The Glen Echo Park Partnership Galleries is pleased to announce a call for artwork for the juried exhibition Power of Place: Art and the Semi-Quincentennial, on view from July 3-August 2, 2026 in the Popcorn Gallery at Glen Echo Park.
In 2026, the United States will mark its 250th anniversary. This milestone invites us to reflect not only on our history but on the places that shape our identity. This juried exhibition will explore how artists interpret "place" as a source of memory, belonging, resilience, and transformation.
About the Exhibition
As communities across the country engage in a national conversation regarding 250 years of American history, this exhibition offers a space to consider how land, home, migration, and environment shape personal and collective narratives. From landscapes and cityscapes to intimate interiors and ancestral homelands, we ask: How does place hold power in your story?
We invite artists working in all media to submit work that responds to the theme of place in the context of this historic anniversary. The selected works in the exhibit will challenge, honor, question, or reimagine the meaning of place in America today.
