The NYC Non-Resident ConcealedCarry Firearm Permit Course is a comprehensive training program designed for individuals who reside anywhere outside of New York City (including Long Island and Upstate NY), but seek to obtain a concealed carry firearm license for New York City. This course is structured to meet New York City training requirements while addressing the unique legal considerations and challenges faced by non-resident applicants. It provides both the legal foundation and practical skills necessary for responsible firearm ownership and lawful concealed carry in all of New York State including New York City.

This course fulfills the New York City mandated training requirement of 18 total hours, which includes:

• 16 hours of classroom instruction
• 2 hours of live-fire range training
• All range fees
• Use of firearm for qualification
• Ammunition
• FBI qualification targets
• Low-Profile Shooting Ear Muffs (yours to keep)
• Ballistic Shooting Glasses (yours to keep)

Participants will receive detailed instruction on New York firearm laws, with a strong emphasis on regulations specific to New York City. Topics include licensing procedures, restricted and sensitive locations, transportation of firearms across state lines, and the legal use of force. Special attention is given to the complexities non-residents may encounter when carrying or traveling with a firearm in and out of New York City.

The course combines classroom education with practical, hands-on training. Students will learn essential firearm safety principles, safe handling and storage practices, and situational awareness techniques. The live-fire portion of the course provides structured range training to build proficiency in marksmanship, safe firearm operation, and defensive shooting fundamentals.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion that satisfies New York State/ New York City training requirements for concealed carry licensing. This course is ideal for out-of-state applicants who frequently travel to NYS/NYC or conduct business there and wish to remain compliant with all applicable laws.

The program’s goal is to equip non-resident applicants with the knowledge, skills, and legal awareness necessary to carry responsibly and lawfully within New York City.
