  • Apply to exhibit at Moonah Arts Centre in 2027

  • APPLICATIONS CLOSE: 9am, Tuesday 28 July 2026

    Submit an application for Moonah Arts Centre's 2027 Exhibition Program. 

    Moonah Arts Centre welcomes applications from artists, curators, groups, and arts organisations.

    This online form must be completed in one session. You will be able to save a PDF version of your application after submitting it.

    All applicants will be notified of the outcome by October 2026.

    Applicants should only proceed on the understanding that if accepted, venue fees and charges will apply.

    Full or partial venue fee waives are available for a limited number of applicants who would otherwise be unable to present their exhibition because of the venue hire fee. These opportunities are available to Tasmania-based applicants only. Applicants can elect for their application to be considered for this support in this form. To be considered for this support your exhibition must meet an area of the selection criteria to a high degree.

    Moonah Arts Centre is owned and operated by Glenorchy City Council. 

  • Gallery Hire fees

    Gallery Hire Fees are based on 2026-2027 financial year rates. If your exhibition falls outside of this financial year this fee may be subject to an increase. Additional charges may apply such as key surcharge, alarm call outs, cleaning and damages.

    Applicants can apply to be considered for a full or partial venue hire fee waive. To be eligible for this support an exhibition must meet one of the selection criteria to a high degree. Tasmania-based applicants only.

  • SELECTION CRITERIA

    Through the review process, exhibitions will be scored against each criteria, to give each application an overall score. Exhibitions do not need to satisfy all criteria to be successful. Successful applications may rank highly against 1 or 2 criteria.

     

      CRITERIA FURTHER DETAIL
     1.

    Provides a platform for communities in the Glenorchy municipality to own, express and share their stories, heritage, experiences and dreams

    Exhibitions featuring artists local to the Glenorchy area, or exhibitions thematically of interest or relevance to audiences in Glenorchy. 
     2.

    Celebrates difference, diversity, and understanding within and between communities.

    Exhibitions that highlight different cultures and lived experiences.
     3. Promotes learning or skills development

    Exhibitions that provide an opportunity for the artists involved to learn and develop their skills or practice.

    Exhibitions that provide opportunities for audiences to learn, this could be through the content of the exhibition, or associated programming.

     4. Has an impact on audiences or those involved, or reaches new audiences

    Exhibitions that offer opportunities for audiences beyond passive engagement, ie. through interaction or programming.

    Exhibitions that facilitate connections between Moonah Arts Centre and new audiences.

     5. Is innovative and/or original in its concept Exhibitions that offer something new for Moonah Arts Centre's program and audiences. This may be themes or content not previously presented, or that isn't regularly presented, at Moonah Arts Centre.
  • Preferred Dates

    Most exhibition periods at Moonah Arts Centre in 2027 will range between 4-6 weeks (including half a week for installation).

  • Would you like your exhibition to be considered for a full or partial venue hire fee waive? To be eligible for this support an exhibition must meet one of the selection criteria to a high degree. Tasmania-based applicants only.
  • Please note: the number of fee waives available are limited. In requesting to be considered for this support applicants must understand that their exhibition may be accepted for inclusion in the 2027 program without obtaining a fee waive, in which case venue fees and charges will apply.

    Examples of current work that will be included in your exhibition are preferred. Examples of past work to help demonstrate your art practice is also acceptable.

    Please note that registering your interest does not guarantee a place in the program. All applications are subject to availability of spaces, and will be reviewed by a panel to determine their suitability for presentation at Moonah Arts Centre.

  • Appeals and Disputes: If your application is not selected for inclusion in the 2026 Moonah Arts Centre Exhibition Program and you believe that the proper process was not followed, you may submit a request for review. Requests for review must be made in writing to the Creative Communities Coordinator. Your request must be received within 28 days from the date of Moonah Arts Centre notifying you of the decision about your application and include the reasons for requesting a review.

  • A. PRIVACY NOTICE:
    Glenorchy City Council Council collects personal information to provide services and process and administer requests or notifications but may collect it for other purposes as permitted by law. The information may be shared with contractors and agents of the Council for this purpose, law enforcement agencies, courts and other organisations.

    You do not have to provide your personal information but if full information is not provided the Council may be unable to action your application or request.
