  • Team Age Group: Based on 2026/2027 hockey season
  • Game Format

    • 20‑minute running time per game.
    • Faceoff at centre starts the game.
    • No stoppages unless a player is injured or a stray ball interferes with the goalie.
    • 5‑minute warm‑up before each game.
    • Teams must be ready 15 minutes early.
    • Each court has a referee with full authority.


    Late / No‑Show Policy

    • Opponent receives 1 goal every 5 minutes a team is late.
    • A no‑show results in a 5–0 loss.


    Gameplay Rules

    • Stray balls are removed only if they interfere with play.
    • After a goal, the scored‑on team gets possession.
    • Substitutions allowed anytime during play.


    Player Requirements

    • Mandatory: gloves, hockey stick, running shoes.
    • Kids division: helmets required.


    Goalie Requirements

    • Each team must have one designated goalie.
    • No goalie changes unless due to injury.
    • Recommended: helmet with cage, pads, trapper, running shoes, goalie/player stick.


    Team Requirements

    • Teams must wear matching jerseys, shirts, tanks, or pinnies.
    • Players may register for only one team.
    • Each team plays a minimum of 3 games.


    Penalties

    Minor Penalties

    • Result in a penalty shot after the game.
    • Shooter starts at centre, no backward movement.
    • Goalie must stay in the crease.
    • Examples: slashing, tripping, high sticking, unsportsmanlike conduct.


    Major Penalties

    • Result in immediate ejection.
    • Examples: hitting from behind, intent to injure, fighting, kicking.


    Additional Rules

    • Slap shots not permitted — possession awarded to the other team.
    • Fighting = team ejected from tournament (no refund).
    • Verbal abuse toward referees, opponents, spectators, or staff = player ejection.
    • Ball knocked down with a stick above the waist = dead ball, possession to non‑offending team.


    Playoffs

    • If tied: 3‑shooter shootout.
    • Still tied: sudden‑death shootout.


    Standings & Ranking

    • Win = 2 points, Loss = 0 points.
    • Tiebreakers:1. Head‑to‑head
    2. Goal differential
    3. Fewest penalties
    4. If still tied: Rock–Paper–Scissors (best of 3) between captains

     

    Other Rules

    • Tournament runs rain or shine.
    • Lightning is the only weather delay (officials decide).
    • All shade tents must be pegged down at all corners.
