Stewarding God's 'Talents'
  • Stewarding God's 'Talents'

Share your thoughts about what God has blessed us with and what new or missing 'talents' could we pray into for the future? 6-10 minutes
  • On May 3rd we reflected on our History and the values that we have held to over the years.

In 1935 we started the Black Creek Mennnonite Brethern Church to uphold our values such as:

    - The Word of God as a guide for Faith and Life.

    - Song and Worship as a way of expressing that faith and life.

    - Family 'style' community where all are encouraged to be a part.

On May 10th We looked a things God has given to us to Steward.

Steward = the careful, responsible, and ethical management of something entrusted to you

In this survey we look at 3 things we steward now.

We would also appreciate hearing your thoughts on:

    -  What is a significant 'something' that brings you back week after week?

    -  What could we / should we pray into?

    -  What might God want us to steward better?

    -  What might He have for us next?

    -  Is there something we would really like to ask God to bring to us?"

  • Stewarding the 'Talents' God gives us

Referencing the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14) Lets look at a few things God has given to us to steward.
  • Sunday Morning:

Sunday School, Singing, Preaching, Prayer, Sharing, Coffee Connection.

Making these things a regular ryhthm for our Sunday Morning Gathering builds expectation, consisitancy, and a place to grow in relationship and connection with God and His people.

  • In the Parable, the Master evaluated the servants as to how they 'invested' or stewarded the opportunities that he gave them (talents). What do you think He might say about how we steward Sunday Morning?*
  • Children's Ministries:

Sunday School, Home School Ministry, Children's Clubs.

Supporting and encouraging those who take on these opportunities.  Offering our building and other resources to help 'make it happen'. Creating systems and supports to establish best practices and safety.

  • In the Parable, the Master evaluated the servants as to how they 'invested' or stewarded the opportunities that he gave them (talents). What do you think He might say about how we steward Children's Ministries?*
  • Musicals:

Messages with drama and music giving a fuller 'reason for the season'

Preparation with a focus on celebration rather than presentation.  Children to the Aged with parts to play, small or large.  Spiritual truths combined with rhyme and music making long term memory faith foundations.

Presentation to our larger community, drawing in family and newcomers during seasons of traditional gathering.

  • In the Parable, the Master evaluated the servants as to how they 'invested' or stewarded the opportunities that he gave them (talents). What do you think He might say about how we steward Musicals?*
  • More Stewarding:

Some more areas that God has given us to steward are:

    - Family sense

    - Adult Sunday School

    - Worship and song

  • Asking for More:

As in every local church, we have 'gaps'.  What would you like to pray for more of?

Here are some of things we know about:

    - Structure for healthy integration

    - Midweek adult connection/bible study

    - Fill demographic voids - singles, young adults....

    - Mentoring the next generation of leaders

  • Should be Empty:
