Developing In Faith- School report 2025/26

  • Developing In Faith was introduced as a way to capture the distinctive nature of school improvement for Catholic schools in Scotland.

It links the Charter for Catholic schools with How Good Is Our School as part of the natural improvement cycle of a school.

As part of this cycle, each year schools are invited to choose ONE characteristic to focus on and share the outcomes of their reflection on their faith mission.

This update should be an evaluative statement, which may come from your 'standards & quality' report, that shares what we have done well and what we have identified as our next steps for improvement.

Information provided will be collated and used to share examples of good practice in each of the 5 theme areas

  • Submission for session
  • Click one characteristic below based on the theme that you focussed on this year

  • “Honouring Jesus Christ as the Way, the Truth and the Life”
  • “Developing as a community of faith and learning”
  • “Promoting Gospel values”
  • In the next section you are asked to use the prompt questions to capture your school improvement journey this year, linked to Developing In Faith.

The questions mirror those used within HGIOS.  The downloadable pdf has been designed to support your evaluation process, offering features of highly effetive practice; challenge questions and links to Quality Indicators for each of the 10 Charter Characteristics.

  • The downloadable tables below may be useful for your improvement planning process.  They use the HGIOS format, link with Quality Indicators and DIF and have blank spaces to record your answers.  If you would prefer a WORD version of this document, please just contact SCES.
