Nobody explained what things actually meant. We ended up spending more than we should have because what we thought we were getting and what we actually got were two very different things.

Option 1 — 🖥️ Wix / Self-Managed — Built and Handed Over to You

We build your website on Wix — one of the world's most popular website platforms. Once it is complete we hand it over to you and you manage it yourself. Wix gives you a simple login where you can update your own text, swap photos, change your hours, and make basic edits without needing us. You will purchase your own Wix plan which includes your hosting, and your own domain name.

This is a great option if you are comfortable with basic computer tasks and want to keep your ongoing costs low after the build. There are no monthly fees to Dream App Lab after delivery — just your Wix plan and domain which you pay directly to Wix.

If you ever need our help with changes down the road we are available at our hourly rate. And if you later decide you want us to manage everything for you — no problem, no rebuild needed. We can take over managing your existing Wix site at any time.

Option 2 — 🛠️ DAL Managed — Dream App Lab Handles Everything

We build your website on a professional custom platform and handle absolutely everything for you — hosting, your domain name, security, backups, and all updates. You never have to log into anything or deal with any technical side of your website. Just call or email us when you need something changed and we take care of it.

This option requires a monthly care plan starting at $25 per month. We will walk you through the plan options together when your site is ready to go live — you do not need to commit to a specific plan today.

If you ever decide to take over managing the website yourself down the road — no problem. We will transfer everything to your own accounts for a one-time transfer fee and guide you through the full process.

All DAL Managed websites include hosting, SSL security, domain management, uptime monitoring, security monitoring, and continuous version control backup. The plans differ in how much ongoing support and how many updates are included each month.

🟢 Starter Plan — $25/month

Best for businesses with a stable website that rarely needs changes. Includes hosting, SSL certificate, domain management, uptime monitoring, security monitoring, and continuous backup. Content updates are not included and are billed separately at $25 each.

🔵 Standard Plan — $50/month

Best for businesses that need occasional updates. Includes everything in Starter plus up to 2 content updates per month, 1 image swap per month, and dependency monitoring. Priority email response typically within 24 business hours.

🟣 Premium Plan — $100/month

Best for active businesses that need frequent updates. Includes everything in Standard plus up to 5 content updates per month, unlimited image swaps, monthly performance check, and priority response typically within 12 business hours.

⚠️ All plan pricing is subject to change with 30 days notice. A 3-month minimum commitment applies to all plans.

⚠️ Important notes about your care plan selection:

Your selection today is not final — we will confirm the right plan together when your website is approved and ready to go live. You are not locked into any plan and can change your selection at any time before your site launches.

Care plan fees are not included in your website build estimate. They are a separate monthly fee that begins only after your website is approved and goes live.

Monthly care plan fees are billed on the 1st of each month. Your first month will be prorated based on the date your website goes live.

🛒 A Note on E-Commerce & Online Ordering

Selling products or taking orders online requires a payment processing service to securely handle transactions. The right option for you depends on which build path you selected earlier:

🖥️ If you selected Wix / Self-Managed: Wix includes a built-in payment processor called Wix Payments — no third party setup needed. It accepts credit cards, debit cards, and digital wallets. Like other processors, Wix Payments charges a small percentage per transaction only when you make a sale. This is the simplest option for Wix builds since everything is already inside your Wix account.

🛠️ If you selected DAL Managed: We recommend Stripe or Square — both are free to set up with no monthly fees. You only pay a small percentage per transaction when you actually make a sale, typically around 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction. There are no upfront costs and no monthly fees just for having the payment system in place — you are only charged when money moves.

Regardless of which path you are on, we will integrate your payment processor directly into your website and make sure the checkout experience is smooth and professional for your customers. The account and any billing will always be yours directly.

Please note that if you are selling physical products, inventory management and shipping logistics are separate considerations we can discuss during your project consultation.

🏡 A Note on Listings & Directories

A listings system is a dynamic page that lets visitors search, filter, and browse items — think real estate listings, job boards, restaurant directories, or product catalogs. These are more complex builds that may require a third party service depending on how advanced the filtering and search needs to be. We will advise you on the best approach during your consultation.

If you just need multiple business locations shown on a map, that is done through Google Maps which is completely free and built directly into your website — no third party service needed.

⚙️ A Note on Advanced Functionality

Here is a plain English explanation of each option:

📋 Advanced Forms — Smart forms that change based on what the user selects. For example a form that shows different questions depending on what service someone picks. No third party service needed — built directly into your website.

✨ Custom Interactive Features — Things like calculators, quizzes, sliders, or other tools visitors can interact with on your site. Most are built directly into your website with no third party needed.

🔗 Integrations — Connecting your website to other tools your business uses. A common example is a CRM — which stands for Customer Relationship Manager. A CRM is essentially a digital contact book and sales tracker that keeps track of every lead, customer, and conversation in one place. Popular options include HubSpot, Zoho CRM, and Salesforce. If you are on Wix, Wix actually includes a basic built-in CRM at no extra cost — perfect for most small businesses. For more advanced CRM needs a third party service may be required. Other integrations include connecting to your email marketing platform, payment processor, or scheduling tool.

🧭 Multi-Step Onboarding — A guided step-by-step experience for new visitors or clients. For example a welcome flow that walks a new customer through setting up their account or choosing a service. Built directly into your website — no third party service needed.

Some marketing and automation features require a third party service to work. These are separate tools that connect to your website — most have free plans that are more than enough for small businesses just getting started, and paid plans are typically very affordable when you are ready to grow. Here is what to know about each option below:

📧 Email Marketing Setup — Requires an email marketing platform such as Mailchimp or Brevo. Mailchimp is the most widely recognized and offers a free plan covering up to 500 contacts with an easy drag and drop builder. Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) offers unlimited contacts on its free plan with a daily sending limit — great for growing lists. There are many other options including Klaviyo, Constant Contact, and ActiveCampaign. We will help you pick the right one, set it up, and connect it to your website. The account and billing are always yours directly.

🔗 Form Integrations (CRM, Email or SMS) — Connecting your forms to outside tools typically requires a third party integration service. Most have free tiers for basic needs. We handle the full setup and connection.

🤖 Lead Capture Automation — Automated follow-up emails require an email marketing or automation tool. If you selected Email Marketing Setup this is already covered. If not, a free tier account is all you need to get started.

🎯 Tracking & Conversion Setup — Done through Google Analytics which is completely free. If you have a Gmail account you already have everything you need. We install and configure it all on your website.

📱 Social Media Connections — Connecting your social accounts to your website is free. You just need active accounts on the platforms you want to connect. We handle the technical setup.
