MCA Guided Field Trips are a 2-hour experience between 10:15 and 12:15, Tuesdays through Thursdays.
What to Expect:
The first half of the experience is a discussion-based tour of the exhibitions on view, and the second half is a studio-based workshop. Our educators facilitate conversations about the art on view to give students agency, make meaning together, explore new modes of learning, and prioritize reflection.
Exhibitions on view during Fall 2026:
Before November 17th, guided field trips will focus on Kenzi Shiokava; after November 17th, field trips will focus on Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers. If you would like to see something else or focus on a particular exhibition, please let us know.
Things to Keep in Mind:
If you need assistance with transportation costs to or from the museum, the MCA can reimburse you up to $400 per visit if you meet the requirements and follow the proper reimbursement protocol. We can cover one visit per teacher per season (September to October 2026). You can book more than one tour, but you will need to cover additional bussing. If you need to book more than one tour but cannot cover additional bussing, please reach out to fieldtrips@mcachicago.org
By booking a field trip to the MCA, you consent to following the MCA's Code of Conduct, & we reserve the right to end a tour early if the safety & well being of our educators or the museum is compromised.
