Public Performance Licensing Responsibility
Under U.S. copyright law, most movies (including DVDs, Blu-rays, digital downloads, and streaming content) are licensed for private home use only. Showing these movies in a group setting outside of a private home- such as in a camp lodge, dining hall, or outdoor amphitheater- typically constitutes a public performance and requires a separate license.
Camp Wyman does not hold or provide public performance licenses or any authorization for the showing of movies or other audiovisual works. CWE provides space and facilities for your group's use but does not oversee or approve specific programming choices such as movie screenings. Therefore, CWE is not liable for any copyright infringements resulting from unlicensed film showings.
It is the responsibility of each guest group to ensure that any movies shown at camp are properly licensed.
