• Movie Viewing Policy

  • About This Policy

This policy outlines the responsibilities and requirements related to showing movies and other audiovisual works at Camp Wyman. It is intended to help guest groups understand licensing obligations and ensure compliance with copyright laws while using camp facilities.

Camp Wyman supports a wide range of self-led activities and gatherings, including group movie nights. To help protect both your group and Camp Wyman Experiences (CWE), please review and acknowledge the following guidelines regarding movie screenings on site.

  • Public Performance Licensing Responsibility

Under U.S. copyright law, most movies (including DVDs, Blu-rays, digital downloads, and streaming content) are licensed for private home use only. Showing these movies in a group setting outside of a private home-  such as in a camp lodge, dining hall, or outdoor amphitheater- typically constitutes a public performance and requires a separate license.

Camp Wyman does not hold or provide public performance licenses or any authorization for the showing of movies or other audiovisual works. CWE provides space and facilities for your group's use but does not oversee or approve specific programming choices such as movie screenings. Therefore, CWE is not liable for any copyright infringements resulting from unlicensed film showings.

It is the responsibility of each guest group to ensure that any movies shown at camp are properly licensed.

  • Guest groups may secure public performance licenses through providers such as:

    Swank Motion Pictures
    Movie Licensing USA (MPLC)

  • This list is provided for convenience only. Groups may obtain a license from the provider of their choice.

Alternatively, groups may choose to screen films that are in the public domain or that are explicitly licensed for public or educational group use.
