We envision the vibrant cultural, social, and artistic explosion that centered in Harlem, New York, during the 1920s and 1930s. Driven by the Great Migration, the era redefined African American identity through avaunt garde literature, jazz, poetry, and visual arts, boldly challenging systemic racism and old narratives about the Black community. This is a FUBU space created by and for the Black QT community. 🎉🙌🏾🥂 Dress Code: The energy of the Harlem Renaissance is here, so put on your glad rags and join us! The glitz, glamor, and rebellious energy clad in flapper dresses, high-wasted suits, slip style dresses, feathers, fur, lace, and boas! 👸🏾🪭🪩 Ball Categories: Get to gammin showcasing your creativity and talent in categories including: First Timers, Flapper Fabulosity (dance that dance!), Puttin on the Ritz (opulence), Furs & Feathers (boas & coats), Ode to Bessie Smith (that blues-y appeal). We'll be handing out more than fews and twos in Cash Prizes awarded to those who capture the spirit of the theme with originality and flair.
