This form is intended to help you think about a community cohort you may want to establish. This is the beginning of a conversation with a staff member to help you think through the first steps of that process.
Expanding Our Community: Two Ways to Connect
To ensure we are fostering deep relationships while honoring the original vision of these cohorts, MCC’s Cohorts are categorized into two distinct categories:
Identity-Based Cohorts: These spaces are explicitly dedicated to corps members who share a specific identity or lived experience (e.g., BIPOC, LGBTQIA2+, Women's+). The primary focus of these cohorts is to ensure safety, belonging, dignity, and validation for groups that have historically sought dedicated spaces to be their most authentic selves.
Interest-Based Cohorts: These spaces are centered around shared hobbies, skills, or activities (e.g., outdoor recreation, book clubs, stewardship). They are open to anyone looking to build camaraderie and community around a mutual passion.
A Note on Our Priority: While MCC is excited to support the energy and creativity behind both pathways, our primary commitment remains firmly rooted in uplifting and protecting our Identity-Based Cohorts. These groups address a critical need for structural equity and peer support within the corps experience, and staff resources will prioritize ensuring their success and sustainability.
Community Cohorts must be in alignment with the MCC Community Values as stated on our website (https://www.mtcorps.org/about-us/) as well as upholding all MCC policies (as found in your MCC Participant Policy Manual). MCC will not allow efforts that undermine or contradict these values and policies.
