Welcome to the Project Pipeline Architecture and Design Justice Camp. This year will be a 1-Day Event, beginning with a morning activity, lunch, afternoon activity, and ending with the parent + student information session about preparing for a career in the design field.

The camp is free and open to students of all backgrounds. We prioritize students of color to advance our goal in diversifying the built environment industries.

 

Camp Date: 10 AM - 3 PM on Saturday, August 8th

No transportation will be available this year because the camp is only 1-day long.

*Your student must complete the 6th grade to be eligible to participate.

Principles and Rules Agreement: The mission of the NOMA Project Pipeline Architecture Summer Camp (”Program”) is to develop responsible, honest, respectful, caring, and socially aware youth and adults. In keeping with this mission, the Program strives to provide a safe, healthy and productive environment for its students, staff, parents, and other members of the community. Attitudes and behavior that interfere with the Program’s ability to provide this type of environment will not be tolerated. Negative attitudes or disruptive behavior by one student will not be allowed to interfere with another student's participation in the Program. The Program discipline policy outlines the consequences for participants who interfere with the positive and productive environment fostered by NOMA. The parent(s) and student each must review the principles and rules below.

1. I will strive to participate at the highest level of my abilities
2. I will arrive for all classes and activities on time.
3. I will demonstrate respect in my speech and actions for all staff, volunteer leaders, and other participants, and for all program rules.
4. I will demonstrate respect for all of the environments in which I might be in on field trips.
5. I will not use my cell phone unless specifically given permission during class time.
6. I understand that if I violate this Code of Conduct or any of the above principles or rules, my parent(s)/guardian(s) may be notified; I may be asked to leave a session. I may further be suspended from future program activities.

Representation of Authority / Grant of Permission

I represent to NOMA and the University that I am the lawful parent or guardian of My Child and am authorized to agree to the following terms and conditions of this Agreement both on behalf of My Child and myself. I represent to NOMA and the University that I hereby grant permission for My Child to participate in the Activity and all events and activities associated therewith. Additionally, I understand the risks associated with the Activity and am assuming such risks.

Assumption of Risk, Waiver, & Release of Liability and Indemnification:

I have agreed to participate in the NOMA Field Trip Program titled 2024 NOMA Project Pipeline Design Justice Summer Camp (“The Program” ) in and around the Kansas City Metro Area from July 25, 2024 through July 27, 2024. I understand and hereby acknowledge that his/her participation in the Program is wholly voluntary. NOMA has agreed to allow them to participate in the program and we, in turn, agree to the following:

1. Assumption of Risk and Release of Claims: Knowing the risks, dangers, and hazards described to me by the NOMA leadership, and in particular those described in the “Statement of Responsibility and Authorization to Participate in Summer Camp”, I agree, individually, and on behalf of my heirs, successors, assigns and personal representatives, to ASSUME AND ACCEPT ALL THE RISKS, DANGERS, HAZARDS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES resulting in or arising from his/her participation in the Program. To the maximum extent permitted by law, I, individually, and on behalf of my heirs, successors, assigns and personal representatives, HEREBY RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE NOMA’s national and local organizations and its employees, agents, officers, trustees and representatives (in their official and individual capacities) and the Curators of the University of Missouri and its curators, officers, agents, employees, volunteers, representatives, successors, and assigns (“Released Parties”) from any and all liability whatsoever for any and all damages, losses, harms, or injuries (including suffering and death) that he/she may sustain to his/her person or property or both, whether caused by the negligence or carelessness on the part of NOMA, it’s employees, agents, officers, trustees or representatives and the Curators of the University of Missouri, and its curators, officers, agents, employees, volunteers, representatives, successors, and assigns (“Released Parties”) including but not limited to any claims, demands, actions, causes of action, judgments, damages, costs, and expenses of any nature whatsoever, including attorneys fees, which arise out of, result from, occur during or are connected in any manner to my participation in the Program (including periods in transit to and from any location where the Program is being conducted), any related or independent travel, or any activities or field trips (including any inherently dangerous activities such as visiting construction sites).

2. Health Care and Emergencies: I affirm my understanding that, by allowing me and My Child to participate in or attend the Activity, the University is not responsible for providing health care services or health care insurance for me or My Child. I certify that I will be responsible for the payment of any fees and charges that may be imposed by any doctor or medical facility for the provision of medical care for any injuries, illness or condition involving me or My Child during the Activity. I agree to indemnify and hold the Released Parties harmless from any claim that may be made by a doctor or medical facility for such fees and charges. I authorize the University staff to seek emergency medical treatment for my child if it becomes necessary while participating in the Activity. I understand that every effort will be made to contact me, or the emergency contact listed below before any medical treatment is administered, but, if I cannot be reached, I authorize the University staff to act on my child's behalf. I agree to be financially responsible for the cost of any medical care provided to my child(ren) under this Agreement.

3. Health and Safety Policy Guidelines: Both before and during the Activity, the University may make decisions as necessary to comply with health and safety laws, orders, regulations, ordinances and guidance pertaining to epidemic or pandemic level communicable diseases. These public health concerns may result in a disruption, alteration, or other modification to the Activity schedule including, but not limited to, capacity restrictions, re-scheduling, shortening and re-locating of activities, social distancing requirements and changes to format of Activity presentations and events. The Activity is subject to change as deemed necessary by the University to address public health concerns. I understand the risks associated with potential exposure to contagious infections and diseases, and I, on behalf of My Child and myself, release the Released Parties from any and all claims related to the potential or actual exposure to contagious infections and diseases related to or arising from My Child’s participation in the Activity.

Acknowledgment:
I certify that: a) I am the parent or legal guardian of My Child; b), that I have read this Agreement; c) I am relying wholly upon my own judgment about the risk of harm, injury or death to My Child due to My Child’s participation in the Activity; d) I am over the age of 18; e) I am not signing this Agreement based upon any oral representations, statements or inducements that have been made to me that are not stated in this Agreement: and f) am voluntarily signing this Agreement as my own free act fully intending for me and My Child to be legally bound by it.

Information/Image/Media Release

As a parent or guardian of this student, I hereby consent to the use of photographs/videos taken during the course of the camp for publicity, promotional and/or educational purposes (including publications, presentation or broadcast via newspaper, internet or other media sources) as well as survey information for camp reports and documentation. I do this with full knowledge and consent and waive all claims for compensation for use, or for damages.

 On behalf of myself and My Child I hereby: a) irrevocably grant permission to the NOMA and/or University to make photographs, films, videos, reproductions, transcriptions and recordings (collectively, “Recordings”) and to use, display, publicly perform, distribute, transmit, broadcast, publish, duplicate and post, through any type of media and in any form, including through and on the internet and websites, Recordings, whether in whole or part, of me and/or My Child while present at the Activity, provided that such Recordings are not directly sold; and b) waive any right to inspect or approve Recordings prior to or after their use, display, public performance, distribution, transmission, broadcast, publication, duplication or posting. I understand that neither I nor My Child will receive monetary compensation in exchange for the use of Recordings as stated in this Agreement.

I understand and agree that the registration information I provide—including my child’s personal details, emergency contacts, medical information, and related data—may be shared with partner organizations that help operate and manage the camp. This information will only be shared for purposes such as program coordination, safety planning, and smooth operation of camp activities. All shared information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and will not be used for any other purpose without my written consent.
