This Award will be presented during our Annual Conference on Nov. 12, 2026 at the Turning Stone Resort & Convention Center.
This award is meant to recognize individual school counselors who devote their careers to serving as advocates for New York students, addressing their academic, social-emotional, and career development. In addition, we hope to be able to recognize school counselors in each region. These individuals influence the school counseling profession through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration and will be encouraged to represent New York at a national level once recognized.
*The counselor nominated must be a member of NYSSCA to be eligible to win.*
Nomination Questions:
1) How has the counselor used data in their comprehensive school counseling program to provide equity and access to all students? Please be specific, provide data or examples
2) How has the school counselor demonstrated leadership in the school community? Please be specific and provide examples.
Possible examples could be a particularly effective collaborative effort with stakeholder populations such as administrators, faculty, parents and/or the community.
3) How are students different as a result of the school counseling program? Please be specific.
4) How has the school counselor advocated for the profession based on the ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards & Competencies?
