The NYSSCA Administrator of the Year Award recognizes a department, building or district leader who has provided outstanding support to the school counseling profession. Nominations can be made by the nominee or a colleague of the nominee. The award will be presented at the NYSSCA Annual Conference.
To be eligible:
(1) the nominator must be a current member of NYSSCA;
(2) the nominee must be currently employed as a full-time administrator or recently retired;
Recognition Criteria include:
- The nominee demonstrates awareness and knowledge of New York State K-12 School Counseling Regulations.
- The nominee has been responsible for school counseling program innovations or development of the district comprehensive school counseling program aligning with the New York State K-12 School Counseling Regulations
- The nominee demonstrates outstanding qualities of leadership, advocacy and collaboration in his/her work promoting equity and access to rigorous educational opportunities for all students to maximize student achievement.
- The nominee demonstrates strong professional and civic activities.
Deadline for submissions is: October 9, 2026.
Recipients will be notified by October 30, 2026
