Sporting Wheelies Members Wheelchair Hire Agreement Form

Once this form has been completed, a member of the Sporting Wheelies team will contact you within two (2) business days to confirm wheelchair availability and provide further details regarding your booking.

Hire Costs

• Daily Hire - $33 (GST inclusive)* Applies to non-members
• 12 Week Block - $220 (GST inclusive)*
• Annual Hire - $660 (GST inclusive)*

*To access the 12 week Block Hire and Annual Hire rates, the hirer must:

• be a current Sporting Wheelies Member
• hold a Social Sports Pass or Sport League pass; and
• be an active participant in the Sporting Wheelies program

Please note: while we will endeavour to provide a chair in your requested size, availability cannot be guaranteed due to the limited number of chairs available.

Footplate
Standing on the wheelchair footplate is strongly discouraged. Doing so may compromise the structural integrity of the footplate and could result in breakage or instability of the wheelchair. The footplate should only be used as intended, with both feet placed securely on it while seated.

Straps
The straps are designed to improve safety and stability during wheelchair use. After use, please ensure all straps are securely fastened back into their designated positions. Straps left hanging loosely may create a tripping or entanglement hazard.

Spoke Guards and Spokes
Regularly spin the wheels and inspect the spokes for any signs of looseness or damage. Loose or damaged spokes may affect the wheelchair’s stability and manoeuvrability and could lead to accidents or further damage.

Tyres
Check the tyres regularly for deflation or punctures. If a tyre appears flat, inflate it promptly to the recommended pressure of 100 PSI (pounds per square inch). Maintaining the correct tyre pressure helps ensure optimal wheelchair performance, manoeuvrability, and user comfort.

Wheels and Axles
Check that each wheel axle is securely attached within its housing by gently pulling on the wheel. If there are visible gaps between the wheel hub and axle housing, the axle nut may require adjustment. Failure to correct this issue may result in axle bending and impact the wheelchair’s performance and durability.

Transportation
When transporting a sports wheelchair, the sports wheels must be removed prior to loading or travel. This helps prevent damage to the wheels, frame, and surrounding equipment during transit.

Payment of the applicable hire fee is required in full prior to collection of the wheelchair. Payment may be made via EFT or EFTPOS at reception.

A refundable $200 holding bond is also payable at reception via stripe (see below) 

Bond

A refundable $200 holding bond applies to all wheelchair hires.

The bond is payable at reception via stripe prior to collection of the wheelchair and is separate from the hire fee.

The bond will be refunded in full upon the return of the wheelchair, provided the wheelchair is returned in the same condition as it was issued, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any damage, loss, or outstanding fees may result in deductions from the bond as determined by Sporting Wheelies.

Payment of the applicable hire fee is required in full prior to collection of the wheelchair. Payment may be made via EFT or EFTPOS at reception.

A refundable $200 holding bond is also payable at reception via stripe before the wheelchair can be collected. The bond will be refunded upon the return of the wheelchair, subject to the wheelchair being returned in an acceptable condition.

Pick up & Returns - one day hire only

Wheelchairs hired on weekdays must be returned within one (1) business day of hire.

For wheelchairs hired for weekend use a minimum hire period of two (2) days applies. Weekend hires must be returned by 4:00 PM on the following Monday.

Damage

Any damage to the chairs must be reported to Sporting Wheelies as soon as possible.  Damage should be reported via email to sport@sportingwheelies.org.au

Repair Costs

The Hirer is responsible for all maintenance and repair costs arising from damage caused while the wheelchair is in their care.

Applicable repair costs include:

• Replacement tyre - $65 + GST
• Replacement tube - $25 +GST
• Replace/repair footplate - As per mechanic quote (approx. maximum cost is $500 +GST)
• Frame Repairs - As per mechanic quote 

Please note: For repairs not listed above, the Hirer will be provided with a repair quote from Sporting Wheelies’ preferred mechanic.

Liability for Loss or Theft

The Hirer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and proper care of the hired wheelchair at all times during the hire period.

Any theft, destruction or irreparable damage to the wheelchair while under the Hirer’s control will result in the Hirer being liable for the applicable insurance excess of $1000.
