• HandsOn River Region Board Member Interest Form

  • HandsOn River Region was founded in 1974 as the Voluntary Action Center, with a focus on supporting nonprofit capacity through volunteerism. Over our 52-year history, we have grown to include programs such as the 2-1-1 Information & Referral line; the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and Coordinated Entry, in conjunction with the Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless; and the Christmas Clearinghouse program. We also serve our communities in times of natural disaster by operating Volunteer Reception Centers (VRCs) and aligning with our local Emergency Management Agencies (EMAs) to coordinate community resources after disasters.

The mission of HandsOn River Region is to mobilize volunteers and connect people, information, and services to meet local needs and build a strong, caring community.
