Short Creek Fourth of July Parade Standards
Please read these Parade Standards in full. Your signature below makes your agreement to them binding.
- Parades must have a theme and be a family friendly event.
- The Town will permit only one parade per day.
- The route begins on Central Street at Field Avenue in Hildale, UT and travels south to Edson Avenue in Colorado City, AZ. Line-up is on Field Avenue.
- All entries must promote the parade theme. Inappropriate or unsafe participation, failure to follow instructions, or other violations may result in denied participation in future parades and possible immediate removal from the route.
- Entries cannot exceed 13 feet 6 inches in height and 20 feet in width.
- Float entries must have a walking marshal, age 16 or older, on either side of the float to ensure safety, maintain pace, and prevent gaps.
- All walking participants must be 8 or older. Children under 8 may ride on or in a unit. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone, at a ratio of one adult per ten children for walking groups.
- Loaded weapons, fireworks, or items that make loud or sudden noises are not permitted, except for emergency service vehicles.
- Walkers may hand out only candy in its original packaging. No flyers, handbills, or messaging may be attached to candy or distributed along the route.
- All drivers must hold a valid driver's license and be trained for their entry, including ATV drivers. All vehicles and ATVs must be registered and insured in their home state. The Towns of Colorado City and Hildale City assume no responsibility for incidents arising from the parade.
- Equestrian and animal entries must provide a handler to control the animals at all times and a system to clean up and properly dispose of waste along the route.
- No alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or drugs of any kind, and no reference to or promotion of them, are permitted.
- Applicants must have a plan for de-staging and cleaning up the route after the parade.
- Parade organizers must add the Towns of Colorado City and Hildale City as additional insured on their policy, or waive liability and hold harmless the Towns and their members and sponsors for any damage or injury, including death, to participants or animals and damage to any float or vehicle.
- No unauthorized solicitations are permitted.
- No unauthorized vehicles or entries are permitted on the route.
All entries may be inspected for safety and compliance, and the Committee reserves the right to reject any entry. The Towns of Colorado City and Hildale City prohibit discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability in their services, programs, and activities.
