Personal Bio: Abbie Tarabella, MSN, RN, is the Medical ICU Director at Grandview, where she is passionate about quality outcomes, operational excellence, and creating a work environment where nurses feel supported and enjoy what they do. She brings 5 years of bedside nursing experience in both the Emergency Department and ICU, including frontline care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which shaped her leadership approach and commitment to supporting nurses in high-acuity environments. Abbie holds a Master’s degree in Nursing Administration and is committed to strengthening nursing practice through collaboration, accountability, and team engagement. During her time at Samford University, she served as Press Secretary on the Student Executive Board, and more recently served on Grandview’s Nurse Leadership Council, building an early foundation in communication and advocacy. Outside of work, Abbie enjoys running, being outdoors, and staying active, bringing the same energy and discipline from those pursuits into her leadership style.
Personal Bio: My name is Nykierra Taylor, and I am truly excited to be considered for Secretary of the Greater Birmingham Chapter AACN. I have proudly called Birmingham home for nearly nine years and completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, followed by the UAB/Wallace State Community College joint nursing program. As a critical care nurse, I am deeply committed to service, leadership, and continuous growth. I have traveled to multiple states providing patient care and, since 2023, have volunteered internationally in underserved communities, including Ghana and Peru. I also helped establish the nonprofit organization ProjectEMS, focused on education, mentorship, and scholarships, where I serve as Director of Development, and have precepted nursing students in both Birmingham and Michigan. I look forward to bringing strong organization, attention to detail, and an authentic passion for fostering engagement and strengthening connections within our chapter.
Personal Bio: Maria Trigo I serve as a an ICU nurse specializing in cardiopulmonary and cardiothoracic intensive care at UAB Hospital. I have experience caring for high-acuity ICU patients requiring advanced therapies including ECMO, CRRT, mechanical ventilation, and cardiac support devices. I am skilled in managing complex postoperative recovery for cardiac surgeries and heart and lung transplant patients. In addition to my clinical expertise, I serve as a preceptor for new nurses and also serve as a charge nurse on the unit. I also hold the position of co-chair for our unit based Education Committee and am working toward RN Level 2 in UAB's Professional Nursing Development Program.

Personal Bio: Ellie Perry. I am currently a critical care nurse at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital (UAB) and hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama.What I value most about my role as a critical care nurse is the opportunity to advocate for patients when they are unable to advocate for themselves. I am interested in serving as a general board member for this chapter, with a particular focus on planning and organizing volunteer initiatives. I believe that volunteering within the nursing profession helps us reconnect with the purpose and passion that originally drew us to this field.I am grateful for the opportunity to be apart of this chapter and would be honored to serve and support its members
