Serving the beer garden is a major responsibility. If awarded, your organization will be required to provide a minimum of ten (10) persons: five (5) to serve beer and five (5) to provide security at entry/exit points where needed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. For the Thursday and Friday night concerts, a minimum of fifteen (15) persons will be required: eight (8) to serve beer and seven (7) to provide security at entry/exit points and float through the grandstands and standing room crowd. All volunteers will report to the fair office one hour prior to the beer garden opening (report at 5 pm) to attend a briefing and go over responsibilities, requirements, and to clarify questions, then assist in setting up the beer garden for the evening event. Volunteers will also need to stay for approximately one hour after the beer garden closes to assist with clean up and tear down from the day's business.
Awarded groups will get detailed requirements approximately two (2) weeks prior to the event. Failure to comply with these rules can result in forfeiture of part or all of your group’s bid payment. A list of all volunteer names from your organization will be required within one (1) week of your assigned day. Volunteers are NOT required to be a part of your organization, however, they will be representing your organization at the event.
Your organization is allowed to hang a banner in the beer garden for identification purposes, as long as it does not block the beer garden sponsor banner. We do encourage all volunteers to wear apparel identifying your organization, if able. All volunteers must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Servers and workers will follow all Nebraska Liquor Control Commission rules and regulations along with all Nebraska State Law requirements.
In order to maintain fairness and equal opportunity, the beer garden selection process will be based on a bid application to determine what organization will be awarded what night. Organizations awarded the opportunity to serve the beer garden will get to do so for one (1) night only. In the event five (5) organizations do not submit bids, only then will an organization be awarded a second night. Each group selected for the beer garden will retain all tips collected from the day and will also receive the bid amount you submitted to the fair board provided that your group performs the detailed requirements as established above. The Cheyenne County Fair Board has the sole discretion to decrease the bid amount if the detailed requirements are not met or complied with.
Bid process: Each organization will submit their bid one of three ways: online through JotForms, emailed to Shelby Roelle at sroelle@hotmail.com, or printed and delivered to any fair board member. The bid will be date and time stamped to determine a first come, first serve basis and used to award a bid if two organizations have the same bid amount for a specific event. On June 22, 2026 at 6:30 pm the fair board will award beer garden serving nights to the lowest bidder of each night. All bids must be date and time stamped BEFORE END OF DAY JUNE 19, 2026!
The Fair Board will provide beer garden details including location, maps, diagrams, and areas where security personnel will be stationed at all times during beer garden hours of operation. Legal-aged patrons of the beer garden will be identified with wristbands and beer will be served in exchange for beer tickets. ID checks and beer ticket sales will NOT be the responsibility of the organization; however, it WILL be the responsibility of beer servers to check for wristbands and collect beer tickets.
Bid forms can be found online at www.CheyenneCountyFair.com or by contacting a Fair Board member.
