  • Social and Emotional Learning in Waldorf Schools

    A Holistic Approach for Educators and Counselors
    With Megan Sullivan & Laura Scappaticci

    This interactive online training helps educatiors and counselors feel grounded, inspired, and confident as they meet the needs of today’s students. Rooted in an Anthroposophical understanding of the human being, the training integrates best practices from social‑emotional learning, restorative justice, circle practice, trauma literacy, cultural humility, and child development.

    Each session weaves together content presentations, experiential activities, and guided reflection, offering opportunities to practice skills, deepen understanding, and connect with fellow educators and counselors.

    After completing the training, participants may join an optional monthly cohort for continued learning, coaching, and curriculum support.

    While Megan and Laura’s experience centers on middle and high school, the training is designed for all teachers and counselors.

    This workshops is experiential and interactive. Recordings are only for live attendees. 

    Need financial support? 
    Once you register, you will receive a letter for your administration that details the learning outcomes for the course. This letter will support your request for funding/reimbursement.

    Forming Our Community
    Friday, August 14, 4 pm - 5:30 pm PT
    Introduction and community building 

    Fundamentals
    Saturday, August 15, 9 am - 2 pm PT  
    Integration of an Anthroposophical framework with contemporary SEL and counseling practices.

    Topics:
    Cultural competency and trauma‑informed foundations
    Somatic grounding and embodied presence
    Understanding emotional regulation 
    The role of attunement in relational safety
    Noticing yourself in the work: inner awareness, boundaries, and self‑reflection

    Getting Practical
    Sunday, August 16, 9 am - 2 pm (PT)
    Focus on building safe, inclusive, developmentally attuned classroom and counseling environments. Learn practical tools from Circle Practice, Restorative Justice, and Peer Support models. 

    Topics: 
    Building safe, equitable, trauma‑informed classrooms
    Peer support structures 
    Rhythm, pacing, and group dynamics
    Boundaries, appropriate self‑disclosure, and reporting
    Depth management and holding complexity
    SEL activities, games, somatic practices, and curriculum design

    Note: There will be a one hour lunch break on Saturday and Sunday

            SEL Practitioner Cohort

            Monthly 1. 5 hour online community meetings with Megan & Laura to create and support your school's SEL program and your knowledge as a practitioner. Deepen skills, strengthen classroom presence, receive ongoing practice and support. This is a space to strengthen your confidence, develop your program, and trouble-shoot issues. Saturdays 9:30-11:00 PT. 9/19, 10/17, 11/21, 1/16, 2/20, 3/20, 4/17 


            Note: We prefer you have taken our training before joining the cohort, but are happy to have a conversation with you if you unable to attend the training.
