The Washington Agricultural Leadership Experience (WALE) program provides funding for selected students and teachers to attend a summer program that focuses on practicing and developing leadership skills through the investigation of traditional and non-traditional employment opportunities that are directly and indirectly related to the agricultural industry. This special program is limited to 50 student participants that are active high school FFA members and aims to provide a well-rounded experience for student participants.
Teachers are eligible for clock hours for attending this event.

APPLICATION INFORMATION:
FFA Chapters in good standing are encouraged to have students apply to attend the WALE program. The chapter, via advior(s), may submit up to 5 members to complete this application. There is a minimum of 2 member participants from a chapter. Each member must complete the entirety of this application and provide necessary documentation by the due date for consideration/selection. Applications are due no later than June 12th.
Eligibility Information:
To be eligible for the WALE Program each student applicant must:
- Be a current and active FFA member in grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 school year.
- Be interested in pursuing a career or learning more about careers directly & indirectly related to the agricultural industry.
- Travel with their agricultural educator July 29- July 31. Travel to/from WALE is the responsibility of the chapter.
- Chapters may only submit 2-5 applications, however, students are expected to apply on an individual basis.
Applications will be evaluated by a committee and the applicants selected will be contacted directly via the supplied advisor email. Not all students that apply are guaranteed selection.
WALE PROGRAM INFORMATION:
This application is for the WALE 2026 event. If selected, the following is covered by the Washington FFA Foundation: meals (L/D on the 29th, L/D on 30th, L on the 31st, plus snacks, Breakfast will be provided at the hotel), and program supplies. Start and end time will be emailed to the registered advisor, however, plan on a late-morning event check-in (hotel check-in will be later in the afternoon).
A daily attire schedule will be emailed, but please pack appropriate summer attire (no tank tops, appropriate length shorts, etc.) and the staff reserves the right to ask you to change. You are representing yourself, your chapter, and Washington FFA so please dress in a manner that reflects the highest level of pride.
Please pack Official Dress for pictures and the panel dinner, as well as a reusable water bottle with the owner's name on it.
