Join NAMI NYS’s Lunch and Learn series—a monthly webinar designed to help advocates better understand key mental health policy issues.

This month's Lunch and Learn is on Mental Health Stigma in AAPI Communities. As the nation’s fastest-growing racial and ethnic group, the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) experience and challenges are often overlooked and oversimplified by the public. The Model Minority Myth generalized the AAPI community as a monolithic group that is all smart, hardworking, and high-achieving. The myth not only negatively impacts AAPI, particularly youth, resulting in mental health challenges related to self-image and a healthy sense of community,  but the myth also leads to biases from institutions such as schools and the government that further perpetuate stereotypes against the AAPI community.

Join this workshop to learn more about the mental health challenges faced by AAPI youth and the solutions that youth are proposing.

Bring your lunch, your questions, and your perspective.
