3. A Cobb Library Shop Design
My name is Slade Smith. I am a senior graphic design student at the University of West Georgia, and I grew up in Marietta, Georgia. As an artist, I aim to use visual language to connect people within a community. My work heavily revolves around serving others. When creating a visual identity for a community, I tend to take inspiration from logos like the Olympic rings, the pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness, or the puzzle piece for autism awareness. All of these logos are used to unite a community and can be recognized all over the world regardless of race, education, or economic background. These are the principles that I implement into my own work. When I learned that the county was searching for a design, I felt extremely inspired to create a strong visual identity to represent the community that I grew up in and still live in today. Now, I hope that I can present my best work and have the honor of giving back to the community that raised me.

I am Shanice, an avid reader and library goer. I have loved going since I was a child, and now I have passed that love to my children. I grew up in southern MS, and my childhood library experience was much different than my kids'. We love the librarians, but also the many resources, events, and activities our library shares with the community. My submission reflects my millennial mom's humor and style with a little nostalgia in hopes of connecting to the parents raising the next generation.
