NATIONAL COWGIRL MUSEUM CHARRA GRANT

2027 APPLICATION

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame honors and celebrates women, past and present, whose lives exemplify the courage, resilience and independence that helped shape the West. The Cowgirl Musem is proud to offer this opportunity for active escaramuza teams, thanks to the generosity of Las Tunas Ranches for underwriting the grant program.

Five grants of $2,000.00 will be awarded to four adult teams and one youth team. Recipients will be selected by the Viva la Vaquera Committee of the National Cowgirl Museum. Awards will be presented at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas in March 2027 at the 4th Annual Mujeres Charras Históricas Ceremony.

Eligibility and requirements: This grant is only available to United States escaramuza teams. Applicants must submit the following to be considered:
- Written form application
- Team photo
- Proof of FMCH registration and participation for three years. The following forms of certification are accepted, and at least three must be submitted for consideration.

  - You will be prompted to follow a link to Dropbox to upload your video after submitting this application.
- Completed applications must be submitted by Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 11:59pm CT.

Create a 2-4 minute video that allows the committee to see who you are as a team. The video can be recorded in vertical or horizontal orientation. Work together to share your take on the prompt below:

"A Week In The Life" of an Escaramuza

Choose a week, weekend, or a time period to show your lives inside and outside of escaramuza. Each escaramuza team is different, and this is your chance to show what makes you unique and what drives you as a team. Share authentically and use your creativity!

Requirements:
- Each team member must be included in the video in some way.
- The video must be no longer than 4 minutes. Videos exceeding 4 minutes will not be accepted.
WRITTEN PORTION
Past accomplishments: List any competitions your team has won or placed at. List the name, location, and date of the competition.
What is the story behind your team name? What inspired the founders to start the team?
What fundraising techniques has your team utilized in the past? Provide details on fundraisers, raffles, partnerships with local businesses, or any other ways you've raised money.
Write about a failure your team faced and how you overcame it.
What's your team goal for this year, next year, or five years down the road? Be specific and feel free to include goals beyond success in the lienzo as well.
How has your team participated in your community and what impact have you seen from this?
Application Agreement: I understand that all materials included in this application are a permanent donation to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and are available to researchers and historians and other interested parties and may be made public via social media, website, and/or other publications.
