  • By becoming a certified WKU K1 Instructor and accessing the onboarding course, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
  • 1. Intellectual Property

  • 1.1. The WKU K1 curriculum, app system, and all associated materials remain the intellectual property of WKU K1 SA.
  • 1.2. Access to the curriculum is provided to support you in delivering structured and effective coaching within the WKU K1 SA system.
  • 1.3. To protect the integrity of the system, curriculum content may not be copied, shared, distributed, or reproduced without prior written permission.
  • 1.4. This includes screenshots, recordings, photographs, or printed materials.
  • 1.5. Any misuse or unauthorized sharing may result in the suspension or removal of instructor access.
  • 2. Use of the System

  • 2.1. Instructors are expected to follow the WKU K1 SA coaching system, including:
    • Curriculum structure;
    • Skill progression pathway;
    • App-based approval process.
  • 2.2. Skills should only be approved when they meet the required standard, as outlined in the onboarding course.
  • 2.3. Using the system as intended ensures consistency, fairness, and effective development for all students.
  • 2.4. The app must be used as the official platform for curriculum tracking and skill approvals and is the sole method through which students may qualify for official WKU K1 SA gradings.
  • 2.5. Any technical issues or system irregularities must be reported promptly to the appropriate WKU K1 SA support channels.
  • 3. Coaching Standards

  • 3.1. As a licensed WKU K1 Instructor, you are responsible for maintaining a high standard of coaching.
  • 3.2. This includes:
    • Continuing to develop your own knowledge and skills;
    • Applying and coaching the curriculum correctly;
    • Preparing students appropriately for gradings and events.
  • 3.3. Student grading progression should always be based on meeting the required standards as outlined by the curriculum.
  • 4. Gradings and Events

  • 4.1. Instructors are expected to prepare and enter students for WKU K1 SA gradings on a regular basis.
  • 4.2. Instructors may not conduct or issue official WKU K1 SA gradings without the necessary authorization.
  • 4.3. Instructors are encouraged to support WKU K1 SA events and activities where possible, contributing to the growth of the system.
  • 5. Licensing

  • 5.1. Instructor certification is granted upon successful completion of the onboarding course and approval by WKU K1 SA.
  • 5.2. Licenses remain valid for a period of two (2) years from the date of approval. After this period, the instructor is required to apply for renewal and pay the applicable licensing fee
  • 5.3. Instructor licenses are non-transferable and may not be shared or used by any other individual.
  • 5.4. Instructor certification grants permission to teach the WKU K1 SA curriculum within an approved club.
  • 5.5. An instructor license does not represent a belt rank within the grading system by itself.
  • 5.6. An instructor's personal grading and rank progression are separate from the instructor license and must follow the standard student pathway.
  • 5.7. Any instructor wishing to grade or progress in rank must do so through a registered student account, either by starting from the beginning or by submitting a transfer request. All such progress must be assessed and approved by another licensed instructor.
  • 5.8. In cases where an instructor is unable to meet the physical requirements due to age, injury, or health limitations, WKU K1 SA may, at its discretion, provide alternative forms of recognition based on the instructor's experience, contribution, and coaching ability.
  • 6. Instructor Responsibility

  • 6.1. The licensed instructor is responsible for ensuring that all coaching, student progression, and grading preparation within their club meets WKU K1 SA standards.
  • 6.2. The licensed instructor remains accountable for all students trained at their club, including those coached by assistant instructors.
  • 6.3. Instructors are responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records within the system.
  • 6.4. This includes ensuring that:
    • Active students are correctly linked to the club;
    • Students who leave the club are promptly unlinked;
    • Student progress is kept accurate and up to date in the app.
  • 6.5. Instructors must ensure that skill approvals are conducted appropriately and only when the required standard is met.
  • 6.6. Transfers from another style or organisation must be conducted responsibly, with a focus on accurately assessing the student's current ability and maintaining the integrity of the system.
  • 6.7. Instructors are expected to uphold the integrity and reputation of the WKU K1 SA system at all times. Any misuse of the system or failure to meet the required standards may result in review, support measures, or, where necessary, suspension or revocation of licensing.
  • 7. Assistant Instructors

  • 7.1. Assistant instructors may support classes and coaching activities under the supervision of a licensed WKU K1 Instructor.
  • 7.2. Assistant instructors may not independently:
    • Approve skills;
    • Conduct gradings;
    • Represent themselves as licensed WKU K1 Instructors.
  • 7.3. All coaching delivered by assistant instructors remains the responsibility of the licensed instructor.
  • 8. Maintaining Standards

  • 8.1. WKU K1 SA aims to support all instructors in maintaining a high and consistent standard.
  • 8.2. Instructor access may be reviewed if:
    • The curriculum is not being followed correctly;
    • Students are progressed below the required standard;
    • Intellectual property is misused;
    • Conduct negatively impacts the system or WKU K1 SA;
    • Any of the terms in this document are breached.
  • 8.3. In such cases, WKU K1 SA may provide guidance, request improvements, or, where necessary, suspend or revoke instructor access.
  • 9. Conduct and Professionalism

  • 9.1. Licensed instructors play an important role in representing the WKU K1 SA coaching system and contributing to its reputation and growth.
  • 9.2. Instructors are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner at all times and uphold a high standard of coaching.
  • 9.3. Instructors are expected to treat all students with respect and professionalism at all times, as they represent the WKU K1 SA coaching system. Communication must remain appropriate and constructive, creating a positive and safe training environment for all students.
  • 9.4. When attending WKU K1 SA gradings, instructors should encourage students to wear appropriate club attire and maintain a professional standard of presentation.
  • 9.5. When a skill approval is not granted, the instructor should provide clear, constructive guidance, including relevant exercises and drills, to support the student in achieving the required standard.
  • 10. Updates and Governance

  • 10.1. WKU K1 SA may update these terms and conditions from time to time to reflect the ongoing development of the system.
  • 10.2. Instructors will be notified of any updates, and continued use of the system indicates acceptance of these changes.
  • 10.3. WKU K1 SA reserves the right to make changes to the curriculum, grading requirements, and app functionality as part of the ongoing developmentand improvement of the system.
  • 10.4. Instructors are responsible for ensuring that they remain informed of any updates and implement changes within their clubs as required.
  • 10.5. Any disputes will be handled by the WKU K1 SA Executive Committee (EXCO),
    whose decision will be final.
  • 11. Fees and Billing

  • 11.1. Access to the WKU K1 SA coaching system is subject to applicable fees,
    which may be charged on a monthly or annual basis.
    11.2. Current pricing is communicated through official WKU K1 SA channels,
    including the website and onboarding process.
    11.3. WKU K1 SA reserves the right to update pricing from time to time.
    11.4. Instructors and clubs will be notified of any changes prior to implementation.
    11.5. Failure to maintain active payment may result in restricted or suspended
    access to the system until payment is restored.
    11.6. It is the responsibility of the club and/or student to cancel their account if
    they no longer wish to use the system.
    11.7. Fees may continue to apply until the account is cancelled through the
    appropriate process.
  • 12. Agreement

  • By proceeding with the onboarding course and applying for certification, you confirm that:
    • You have read and understood these terms and conditions;
    • You agree to follow the WKU K1 SA system and standards;
    • You understand that certification is subject to approval and the terms above;
    • You acknowledge that access may be reviewed if standards are not maintained.
