For this old-fashioned classic we make the pastry cream filling using sour cream, milk and a bit of lemon juice to get that bright flavor to come through. We add a bit of freshly grated nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon for that nostalgic spice profile, then bring raisins to a simmer and let them steep in hot water for an hour to plump them up. We fold them into the pastry cream, spread it inside our all-butter pastry crust, and top it with our Marshmallow Meringue. Call your grandparents on their landline and tell them you're bringing over the pie from their childhood!
