  • 2026 KASH Scholarship Program

  • The Korean American Society of Houston is proud to support students who are working hard, pursuing their goals, and making a positive impact in their communities.

    Through the 2026 KASH Scholarship Program, we hope to recognize students not only for academic achievement, but also for creativity, perseverance, leadership, and personal growth.

    This year, KASH will award multiple $1,000 scholarships to selected recipients through the following opportunities:

    • The KASH Academic Excellence Award
    • The KASH Creative Voice Award

    Scholarship recipients will be notified in advance and required to attend Korean Festival Houston at Discovery Green on October 10, 2026 to receive the scholarship.
    We encourage all students to apply, even if you are unsure whether you meet every qualification. We value authenticity, effort, and potential just as much as accomplishments on paper.

    Please complete and submit this form and all additional materials to John@kashouston.org by September 11, 2026 at 11:59PM. Incomplete applications will not be eligible. No late applications will be accepted. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email the scholarship chair at John@kashouston.org.

    Disqualifications

    • Submissions containing profanity, hate speech, or inappropriate content
    • Plagiarized, copied, or AI-generated work submitted as original work
    • False or misleading information within the application
    • Incomplete applications or missing required materials
    • Creative projects that do not follow the provided prompt or guidelines

  • The KASH Academic Excellence Award

  • The KASH Academic Excellence Award recognizes students who demonstrate commitment to their education, perseverance, leadership, and future potential.

    This scholarship is intended for students who strive to grow academically while contributing positively to their schools, families, and communities.

    We understand that every student’s journey is different, and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences to apply.

    Requirements

    • Recommended Unweighted GPA: 3.0
    • Applicants who do not meet the GPA requirement are still encouraged to apply.
    • One-page resume required
    • Two short required essays

  • The KASH Creative Voice Award

  • The KASH Creative Voice Award celebrates creativity, storytelling, and self-expression.

    This scholarship is designed for students who want to share their ideas, perspectives, and talents through creative work. Applicants are encouraged to think outside the box and express themselves in a way that feels authentic to them.

    Submissions may explore Korean culture, identity, tradition, community, or personal interpretation through any creative medium.

    Requirements

    • No GPA requirement
    • Open to all eligible students
    • One original creative submission required
    • Accepted Formats
    • Applicants may submit work in any creative format, including:
    • Video
    • Photography
    • Artwork or drawing
    • Digital design
    • Music
    • Dance
    • Animation
    • Multimedia projects
    • Other creative formats

    "Korean Culture"

    We welcome all forms of creativity and self-expression, including visual art, video, music, writing, photography, digital media, performance, and other creative formats.

    There is no “right” way to approach this project. We encourage applicants to be creative, authentic, and thoughtful in expressing their ideas and perspectives.

    Submissions will be reviewed based on creativity, originality, effort, and personal expression rather than technical perfection.

  • Your artist statement is your opportunity to share your vision, inspiration from the theme, and methodology (process, influences, etc.) with the KASH Scholarship Committee.

    This paragraph will help them further understand your chosen art discipline and interpretation of the this year's scholarship theme, "Korean Culture."
