The Dodge City A’s Youth Baseball Association (DCAYBA) Code of Conduct is a written contract between the parents, players and coaches to abide by the rules and regulations of the game as well as maintain a cooperative attitude and uphold the ideals of fair play and sportsmanship. There is no such thing as a “right” to play for teams within the organization, but it is considered a “privilege.” Therefore, it is a reasonable expectation for the DCAYBA to set the conduct standards that uphold the ideals of the organization and properly enforce them. This contract is more than just paper; it is the essence of our goals and objectives and thus, adherence to it is of primary importance.

PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT
All players Will …
 Display good sportsmanship and team play at all times.
 Follow the direction of the Coaching Staff.
 Show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators.
 Make every attempt to be on time and ready to play for all games and practices.
 Inform coaching staff in a timely manner when unable to attend practice or games.

All Players Will Not …
 Use abusive or profane language
 Taunt or humiliate any other player
 Abuse, mistreat or mishandle any DCAYBA baseball equipment or property (eg. throwing
 batting helmets)
 Threaten or fight any person while at any DCAYBA baseball game or practice
 Post anything interrelated to DCAYBA on social media that is defamatory, obscene, or threatening

PARENTS & RELATED SPECTATORS CODE OF CONDUCT
Parents and Related Spectators will support the players, coaches, umpires, opponents and league or tournament officials. Parents and Spectators won’t "coach" or "officiate".

All Parents and Related Spectators Will …
 Conduct themselves in a manner that displays the principles of good sportsmanship and team play.
 Show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators.
 Inform the Coaching Staff of any disability or ailment that may affect the safety of their child.
 Comply with the decisions of association or tournament officials and observe all rules, policies and procedures as established or endorsed by DCAYBA and/or any affiliated tournament organizations.
 Make arrangements to ensure that the players are punctual in arrival at and departure from all DCAYBA practices, games, and/or any affiliated tournament events.
 Be drug and alcohol free while at any DCAYBA practices, games, and/or any affiliated tournament events.

All Parents and Spectators Will Not…
 Ridicule, demean, threaten or engage in a confrontation with players, coaches, other spectators or umpires.
 Post anything interrelated to DCAYBA on social media that is defamatory, obscene, or threatening

COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
Coaches will remain unconditionally supportive of the DCAYBA’s commitment to the ideals of good sportsmanship, team play, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority. Likewise, coaches will remain sensitive to the physical and the emotional wellbeing of the players.

All Coaches Will …
 Be positive role models.
 Display and instill in their players the principles of good sportsmanship and team play.
 Conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the interests of the players, parents and the DCAYBA.
 Do their best to provide their players a positive experience.
 Ensure that their teams exhibit good sportsmanship at all times, win or lose. “Humble in Victory and Gracious in Defeat.”
 Treat all players, coaches, opponents, umpires, tournament officials, and spectators with respect.
 Provide instruction in a manner that is constructive and supportive.
 Teach the game of baseball to the best of their ability.
 Comply with the decisions of association or tournament officials and observe all rules, policies, and procedures as established or endorsed by the DCYABA.
 Be drug and alcohol free while at any DCAYBA practices, games, and/or any affiliated tournament event.

All Coaches Will Not …
 Ridicule or demean any players, coaches, opponents, umpires, DCAYBA or tournament officials, or spectators.
 Argue with opponents, players or spectators on any playing field or during any team function.
 Tolerate behavior that endangers the health or well-being of a child.
 Use any tobacco products in the dugout or on any playing field, or during any team function (practices, games, etc.)
 Post anything interrelated to DCAYBA on social media that is defamatory, obscene, or threatening

Disciplinary Procedures

In accordance with Articles of the Dodge City A’s Youth Baseball Association (DCAYBA) By-laws, the Board of Directors reserves the right to review each written and signed complaint and implement the necessary disciplinary action as outlined below. All hard copies of complaints and letters received and issued are retained by the DCAYBA Executive Director.

1. Physical violence, such as an attack on an umpire, tournament official, parent, coach, player or guests during games or tournaments by anyone representing the DCAYBA in ANY capacity, including as a player, parent, coach, or guest.

a. Discipline First Offense – ZERO TOLERANCE - Expulsion from the DCAYBA for one (1) year.
b. Discipline Second Offense – Permanent expulsion from the DCAYBA.

2. Verbal abuse or any inappropriate behavior against an umpire, other parents, players, coaches, guests or any individual involved in a game or tournaments events.

a. Discipline First Offense – Official Letter of Warning from the Board of Directors and
Executive Director may include up to a three (3) game suspension and will include a warning that a second offense results in a five (5) game suspension.
b. Discipline Second Offense – Official Letter of Warning from the Board of Directors and
Executive Director will include a five (5) game suspension and a warning that a third offense results in a penalty of expulsion from the organization for one (1) year.

3. Unsportsmanlike conduct, inappropriate physical contact, or any derogatory acts during games or tournaments events.

a. Discipline First Offense – Official Letter of Warning from the Board of Directors and
Executive Director may include up to a three (3) game suspension and will include a warning that a second offense results in a five (5) game suspension.
b. Discipline Second Offense – Official Letter of Warning from the Board of Directors and
Executive Director will include a five (5) game suspension and a warning that a third offense results in a penalty of expulsion from the organization for one (1) year.

4. Any ejection from a game by an umpire (other than a player) must be reported to the Director of the Dodge City A’s Youth Baseball Association.

Action: Immediate removal from field area and out of sight and sound of umpire. No further contact by ejected party from team including post-game activities.

b. Discipline Second Offense – Official Letter of Warning from the Board of Directors and

5. Use of alcohol, tobacco or other controlled substances at the playing fields and up to the parking lot.

a. Discipline First Offense – Official Letter of Warning from the Board of Directors and
Executive Director may include up to a three (3) game suspension and will include a warning that a second offense results in a five (5) game suspension.
b. Discipline Second Offense – Official Letter of Warning from the Board of Directors and
Executive Director will include a five (5) game suspension and a warning that a third offense results in a penalty of expulsion from the organization for one (1) year.

6. Theft/Destruction of property belonging to another.

a. Discipline First Offense – Official Letter of Suspension from Board of Directors and Executive Director stating expulsion from the DCAYBA for one (1) year.
b. Discipline Second Offense – Official Letter of Suspension from the Board of Directors and Executive Director stating permanent expulsion from DCAYBA.

7. Failure to abide by the signed Player, Parent, and/or Coach’s Code of Conduct.

a. Discipline Offense(s) – Official Letter of Suspension from the Board of Directors and Executive Director, and may include game suspensions up to expulsion from the DCAYBA, depending on the conduct violation. Multiple infractions will be handled according to the precedents already set in the previous listed disciplinary policies.

I, the undersigned, have read and agree to follow the Code of Conduct and comply with all DCAYBA rules, policies and procedures, which do include the DCABA Disciplinary Policy, dated 02/24/2025. I understand that violations of the Code will not be tolerated and that violations will subject me to disciplinary action in accordance with the established DCAYBA policies and procedures.
