Principles of Equity and Inclusion
Pride events, including the Capital Pride Street Festival, exist to promote the values of equity, diversity and inclusion in communities across Canada and throughout the world. Capital Pride recognizes the role it plays in creating spaces for members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, allied community organizations, and other local groups to celebrate, educate and advocate through the annual Capital Pride Festival. It remains important that everyone feels safe at the Capital Pride Street Festival including 2SLGBTQ+ youth, trans people, racialized people, Indigenous people, people with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, migrants and people from other marginalized communities.
Capital Pride also recognizes that many organizations participate in the Capital Pride Festival in a variety of ways including as event organizers, promoters, parade participants, street festival participants, suppliers, vendors and sponsors. All organizations and individuals that participate in the Capital Pride Festival are expected to create environments that promote equity, diversity and inclusion and are free of discrimination.
Capital Pride will not discriminate on the grounds of Race, Ethnicity, National Origin, Religious or Political Affiliation, Sex, Age, Personal or Family Relations, Disabilities, HIV/AIDS, Income Restrictions, Union Affiliation, Sexual Orientation, and Gender Identity or Expression.
In order to participate in the Capital Pride Street Festival, all applicants are asked to agree to the following statement:
The Applicant agrees to operate in a manner consistent with the celebration of pride and the positive values of diversity and inclusion in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. On behalf of and with the authority of the organization making this application, you hereby declare that your organization has adopted policies upholding equal opportunity and non-discrimination by which discrimination on the grounds of Race, Ethnicity, National Origin, Religious or Political Affiliation, Sex, Gender, Age, Personal or Family Relations, Disabilities, HIV/AIDS, Income Restrictions, Union Affiliation, Sexual Orientation, and Gender Identity or Expression is prohibited by and within your organization. If requested, you agree to provide Capital Pride with copies of these policies.
Further, it is agreed that The Applicant will not present images or messages that promote or condone, or may reasonably be considered to promote or condone, violence, hatred, degradation or negative stereotypes of any person(s) or group(s) including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Further, it is agreed that The Applicant will respect the right of all members and supporters of the 2SLGBTQ+ community to participate in the Capital Pride Festival.
Further, The Applicant recognizes that, as a Street Festival participant, they represent Capital Pride and agree that they will promote equity, diversity and inclusion throughout the event. The Applicant will not discriminate on the grounds of Race, Ethnicity, National Origin, Religious or Political Affiliation, Sex, Gender, Age, Personal or Family Relations, Disabilities, HIV/AIDS, Income Restrictions, Union Affiliation, Sexual Orientation, and Gender Identity or Expression.
Further, The Applicant acknolwedges that violating Capital Pride's terms and conditions will result in removal from the festival without refund.
Further, The Applicant will reach out to the Registration Team (registration@capitalpride.ca) if they encounter situations that require assistance and to update their registration status. The Applicant acknowledges that they will notify Capital Pride in writing if there is a change to their participation no later than August 8th, 2025 to recieve a refund. Failure to notify Capital Pride of changes to their participation prior to this deadline will not recieve a refund.
