    America 250 Patriotic PARADE AWARDS

    In honor of America's 250th Birthday, all parade participants are encouraged to decorate their entries celebrating America's history, freedom, military service, founding ideals, and patriotic spirit.

    Awards will be presented for:

    🥇 Best Overall America 250 Entry (Most impressive patriotic display)
    🥈 Most Creative Historical Theme (Best representation of American history, founding fathers, historic moments, or patriotic storytelling).
    🥉 Community Spirit Award (Entry that best captures pride, unity, and the spirit of Othello and America).

     

    PARADE RULES & REGULATIONS

     

    1. Throwing candy or other objects from the vehicles shall be PROHIBITED.
    2. Walking beside the float and distributing candy and/or toys is permitted.
    3. Parade entries may only complete one complete lap of parade route.
    4. Riding on the top of or outside of vehicles without belts or harnesses is prohibited.
    5. Fire or open flame on any entrant is prohibited.
    6. All drivers of vehicles and floats shall possess a valid driver’s license.
    7. Fire extinguishers rates 2A - 10BC are required on all motorized decorated vehicles.
    8. Exhaust system shall extend beyond any and all decorations so that drivers or riders are not exposed to carbon monoxide fumes.
    9. Compressed gases (such as helium) shall be properly secured and safeguarded.
    10. All participants should maintain a distance of twenty-five (25) feet between one another to allow visibility of children and other participants running into the street.
    11. All decorative materials must be fire retardant. NOTE: BALES OF HAY ARE NOT FIRE RETARDANT.
    12. Parade entries unsafely operating vehicles or animals will be removed from parade and cited by the Othello Police Department.
    13. The City of Othello reserves the right to bar from the parade at any time any entrant not conforming to the rules or refusing to follow the instructions of the police or parade officials.
    14. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on any float or vehicle or on the person of any equipment.

              Payments can be dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce Office located at 705 E. Hemlock Street Monday - Friday 9am to 1pm

              or sent via Venmo at @othellochamber.

            • AGREEMENT TO INDEMNIFY: I, the undersigned applicant, desire entry into the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade and am fully aware of the fact that there are special dangers and risks inherent in this activity, including but not limited to, the risk of serious physical injury, death or other harmful consequences that may arise or result directly or indirectly to the company, group, or organization listed above or as a private individual entry from participation in this activity. Being fully informed as to these risks and in consideration of being allowed to participate in Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce sponsored activities, I/we hereby assume all risk of injury, damage and harm to any participant arising from such activities or use. I/we also herby individually and on behalf of my/our heirs, executors and assigns, release, indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce, its officials, employees, volunteers, agents, and the City of Othello, and waive any right of recovery that I/we might have to bring a claim or a lawsuit against the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce and City of Othello for any personal injury, death or other consequences occurring out of my/our voluntary participation in this activity. This agreement is executed by the authorized representative of the respective organization and shall serve to bind all persons associated with the aforementioned parade unit. Failure to adhere to this agreement, the Parade Rules and Regulations, or the direction of parade personnel may result in immediate and/or future removal from the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade. I, the undersigned, acknowledge receipt of and compliance with Application Instructions, Rules and Regulations, and the above agreement.
