    A. NOMINATION STEPS: 

    1. Carefully review this nomination package. 

    2. Complete the “Candidate Application” below. 

    3. Submit your completed application by 5 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

    4. Attend the online AGM on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

     

    B. ELECTION PROCESS 

    1. Nominations are from June 10 to July 1, 2026.

    2. The candidate list is confirmed and profiles are issued to members on July 6, 2026.

    3. Election is conducted at the AGM on August 6, 2026. The results will be announced immediately. All successful Directors will be required to attend a Directors' meeting in the following month where orientation will be given to new Directors.

    4. In keeping with non-profit governance best practices and Whistler Farmers' Market Bylaws, please note that nominations from the floor at the AGM will not be accepted. 

     

    C. INTRODUCTION 

    The Board of the Whistler Farmers' Market (WFM) comprises up to eleven Directors. Applications are being accepted from interested members of the community to fill Director vacancies.

    A strong desire to support the Whistler Farmers' Market as a vibrant community-based not-for-profit organization, along with previous board experience, are considered valuable attributes.

    The Board values potential Directors with the following skills:

    • Board governance 
    • Human resource and policy development
    • Accounting experience
    • Administration and secretarial experience 
    • Fundraising and financial development
    • Community development

    Directors serve as volunteers and receive no remuneration. Directors may be reimbursed for approved expenses in accordance with Society policies. 


    D. TERM OF OFFICE 

    A Whistler Farmers' Market Director is elected for a term of two years from the date of appointment.

     

    E. DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Meetings of the Board are currently held on the second Thursday of the month. Directors are expected to attend at least 50% of board meetings annually. Responsibilities include:

    • Acting in the best interests of the Society
    • Participating in strategic planning and governance
    • Exercising fiduciary oversight of the Society's finances
    • Maintaining confidentiality where required
    • Complying with the BC Societies Act and Society bylaws

     

    F. CANDIDATE APPLICATION GUIDELINES

    Please complete the below application. The Board will only consider information on the application form. Please do not attach a separate resume or submit any other supporting material including reference letters.

     

    G. ELIGIBILITY

    Any interested community member may seek nomination for election to the Board. To be eligible, candidates must become a Member in good standing of the Society before their nomination is accepted. For non-members, this nomination will also serve as your application for membership.
