  • Application for the 2026 AACE Joseph F. O'Donnell MD Travel Scholarship Award

  • For faculty members at any level

    This scholarship was founded to honor the beloved Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cancer Education, Joseph F. O'Donnell MD, after he retired from his editorial post. It is intended to benefit an ICEC attendee who is a cancer education professional whose scholarly efforts are focused on service through mentoring students and utilizing literature and the arts as a way to reflect on service OR research/practice that focuses on cancer prevention or end-of-life care (e.g., caregiving, spiritual issues, suffering).

    Candidates must be an AACE member; have submitted an abstract to ICEC; have a graduate degree or equivalent; be at any level of a faculty appointment in an academic, industrial, or clinical research setting; and for faculty at any level from anywhere in the world. Maximum per person award: $1,500 USD.

  • Acceptance of the Joseph F. O'Donnell MD Travel Scholarship Award obligates you to submit the following information:

    Prior to your funded experience:

    1. Complete any financial or tax documentation requested by the AACE central office.
    2. Retain and submit your receipts and boarding passes for reimbursement (not to exceed the amount awarded to you by AACE).
    3. Provide your full travel details to the AACE central office.
    4. Read and sign off on your agreement to AACE's Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics policies.

    At the conclusion of your funded experience:

    1. Submit the online conference evaluation.
    2. Write a paragraph or two evaluating your conference experience and submit it to AACE, addressing:
      1. Would you recommend this award process to someone in the future? Why?
      2. Was this a good experience/opportunity for networking?
      3. Was the content of the AACE conference valuable?
    3. Acknowledge AACE in any published work resulting from your presentation at the conference.
