As a faith-based co-op, we expect certain standards of conduct. The following items will be specifically addressed with parent and students at the beginning of the year.
1. No student is permitted to turn on the televisions in the classroom to watch YouTube or other apps s/he may find on the Roku devices. Televisions are present for teacher aids and should not be used by any student for any reason except under the supervision of an adult.
2. Unless part of classroom instruction, phones and gaming devices must be put away during class time. Students are not to have their phones out during class time unless the teacher is having you use them for a lesson (such as a Kahoot game). Hoodies may be worn in class, but hoods and hats must be off students' heads during instruction. Taking naps and laying down in class are not permitted unless the parent has communicated a problem with the instructors.
3. Students should strive to remain in groups of 3. A male student and a female student may not be in a classroom alone together (unless they are siblings) nor should they be outside the building together.
4. "Dating" or intimate relationships with members of the same sex is not permitted as this does not align with our values or belief system.
5. Public displays of affection by students in boyfriend/girlfriend scenarios are not permitted. If students are dating, they must refrain from such displays. Students should strive to remain above reproach and carry themselves in an upstanding, respectful manner.
6. Threats and actions of physical harm and inappropriate speech toward others will not be tolerated. Your speech should be "church appropriate." This means your words should be kind and encouraging. Mocking, insulting and general meanness are unacceptable.
7. Students and teachers must dress appropriately for classes. Proper attire for PE (athletic shoes, shorts under dresses, for example) are required. Bring jackets in cooler weather for outside time.
8. High school students should expect to have homework and tests - some every week. Attendance is important. Integrity and honesty are essential. Students taking classes for high school credit must do their work - on time and on their own. Communication with instructors matters!
9. You and your children are expected to abide by our Statement of Faith. You may not agree with it. You may not have a personal relationship with Jesus (though we hope you will one day!), but your submitting this application shows agreement to respect the viewpoints of faith presented at co-op. Students will hear a lot about Jesus, how He loves them, and how He desires for them to know Him. Praying, devotions, and sharing testimonies are commonplace.
