• Securing Seed Supply for Revegetation Programs

Help Grow the Future of North Coast Native Vegetation
  • Register your interest today

  • The North Coast Regional Seed Bank Program is working to secure a reliable supply of locally native seed to support revegetation, ecological restoration, and recovery from natural disasters across the NSW North Coast.

We are inviting landholders with native vegetation on their properties to play a vital role in this important initiative.

Many private properties contain valuable stands of locally " naturally occuring " native trees, shrubs, grasses, and other plant species that are essential for future restoration projects. By allowing ethical seed collection on your property, you can help safeguard the region's biodiversity and contribute to healthier, more resilient landscapes for generations to come.

Your land could help provide the seed needed to restore forests, wetlands, wildlife corridors, and other important ecosystems throughout the North Coast.

  • Why Landholders Matter

  • Locally collected native seed (endemic seed) is critical for growing plants that are naturally adapted to North Coast conditions. Seed sourced from local plant populations helps maintain genetic diversity and supports revegetation projects that are better equipped to thrive in local soils, climates, and ecosystems.

With the support of private landholders, the Seed Bank Program can increase the availability of high-quality provenance seed for Landcare and community-led restoration efforts across the region.

  • How You Can Help

  • Landholders can support the program by allowing trained seed collectors from Landcare Seed Bank Hubs to collect seed from native vegetation on their properties.

All seed collection activities are conducted carefully, ethically, and in accordance with best practice to ensure natural plant populations remain healthy and viable.

  • Native Seed Collection on Private Property

  • The North Coast Regional Seed Bank Program focuses on 104 priority native plant species that are used primarily for ecological restoration, revegetation projects, and post-disaster recovery activities.

By registering your interest, you provide an opportunity for your local Landcare Seed Bank Hub to contact you and discuss whether suitable seed collection opportunities may exist on your property.

Registering your interest does not commit you to any future activities. It simply allows the local Seed Bank team to start a conversation with you about how your property may contribute to this important regional effort.

  • Be Part of the Solution

  • Every seed collected today helps grow the forests, wetlands, wildlife habitat, and resilient landscapes of tomorrow.

If you have naturally occurring native vegetation on your property, we encourage you to register your interest and help secure the future supply of locally native seed for the NSW North Coast.

Please note the Seed Bank is not seeking seed from planted specimens.
