We are ready to launch our 2026-2027 Bronze Medallion (BM) training squads. You are receiving this email because you or your child is eligible for the course.
The SLSA Bronze Medallion and Certificate II Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) provides members with skills and knowledge related to workplace safety, radio operations, surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, resuscitation, emergency care, communication, teamwork, spinal management and patrol operations.
If you or your child passes the course, they will be able to patrol in the role of an entry-level lifesaver and be part of the Cooks Hill Lifesaving Patrol teams! It is a huge achievement for you and your child to wear the Red and Yellow and the skills and values they learn throughout the course are incredibly beneficial.
Course requirements:
- 15 years old by 26 September 2026
- Member of Cooks Hill SLSC
- Have an SLS Hub Account to access e-Learning
- Minimum 80% attendance to pass
- Swim Requirement (compulsory): you will be assessed in your ability to swim 400m in 9 minutes + 100m untimed.
Upon successful completion, members also qualify for the nationally recognised PUA20119 Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) which includes the following units of competency:
- PUAOPE013 Operate communications systems and equipment
- PUASAR012 Apply surf awareness and self-rescue skills
- PUASAR013 Participate in an aquatic rescue operation
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support (3-year validity)
- PUACOM001 Communicate in the workplace
- PUATEA001 Work in a team
- PUATEA004 Work effectively in a public safety organisation
- PUAWHS001 Follow defined work health & safety policies & procedures
- HLTAID009 and 0011 First Aid
- HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation
