• Fishing Camp Registration (10-14 years old)

    The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana
  • NOTICE: SPOTS FOR THIS GROUP HAVE REACHED CAPACITY. YOU MAY STILL SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND YOU WILL BE PLACED ON OUR WAITLIST!

    Camp Details:

This 1 full day fishing camp is for tribal youth between the ages of 10-14 years old. Unlike the younger age group's camp, this camp day will be a full day of fishing adventures! All fishing levels are welcome to join as we will offer tailored lessons for newbies and advanced tips for experienced fishers. The entirety of the day will be spent with professionals at Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge! We will transport youth from the reservation to the refuge early in the morning, reveiwing important fishing information during our drive. Once we arrive, LDWF biologist and refuge managers will be personally touring our group around the refuge. We will be taking a private boat where staff will teach youth about shore protection efforts, aquatic habitats, land management projects, water quality research and upclose encounters of many different wildlife! We will then get a private tour of the LDWF research lab where we will learn about their gator breeding program, hold a baby gator, see eggs, and more! We'll break for lunch before going out on our own to fish and crab along Price Lake Road!

    Important Considerations:

    • Youth will be on a large boat - safety equipment will be provided - please provide motion sickness medication for your child if they are prone to any motion sickness!
    • Late July will be HOT, please ensure your child is physically fit to endure high temps. Dressing in long sleeves and pants is encouraged to keep direct sun off of your skin - sunblock will also be provided - hats for shade are encouraged. The wind from the boat will make the temp much more bearable.
    • We will provide bug spray! There is still a chance that horse flies will ignore it. Long sleeved shirts and pants will deter them greatly!

Date: Wednesday, July 29th. Drop off is 6:30 AM NO EXCEPTIONS!! Pick-up will be between 4:30 & 5:30 PM depending on traffic. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the Multi-Purpose building.

Lunch will be provided, but you're welcome to send your child with their own lunch if they'd rather.

PLEASE READ: This camp requires an initial refundable deposit of $20 (cash) per child, which will be returned to the parent when the child is dropped off for our trip on the 29th. This is to ensure purchased supplies, meals, and field trip entry fees for absent children do not go to waste.

After the submission of this registration form, you will be contacted to schedule payment to hold your child's spot for this camp via text or call.
