Thank you for your interest in the Texas Master Naturalist Program! This is a volunteer program. The Big Country Chapter trains volunteers to conserve, restore, and educate others about Texas’ natural resources.
Program at a Glance
Training Dates: August 13 – November 5, 2026
Class Schedule: Most Thursdays, 6:00–9:00 p.m.
Field Sessions: Three Saturday field sessions
Training Locations: Taylor County Extension Office, Abilene State Park, and select field sites
Cost: $150
Class Size: Limited to 20 participants
Background Check: Required for all participants
Volunteer Program: Certification requires volunteer service and advanced training after graduation.
Annual Recertification Required
Service Area: Taylor, Callahan, Coleman, Eastland, Fisher, Jones, Haskell, Knox, Nolan, Runnels, Shackelford, Stephens, Throckmorton, Concho, Brown, and Tom Green Counties
The training fee includes all speaker and administrative expenses as well as your Texas Master Naturalist Statewide Curriculum, which is yours to keep.
