Resolution Submittal: National Directives

THIS FORM IS FOR NATIONAL RESOLUTIONS ONLY!

Please note that there are three different types of resolutions and associated formats. Please make sure you are choosing the correct one for your chosen purpose.

Policy Statements are resolutions that guide the general legislative and advocacy activities for MACD. Policy statements could include suggestions and actionable steps recommended to carry out the policy within a specific timeframe.
Legislation Directives are resolutions that become bills for legislative advocacy and support. MACD is either the principal party requesting a bill or is a key partner in a request for a bill. Legislative directives are timebound and specific to changes in state law.
National Directives are resolutions for submission to NACD for consideration for support of regional and/or national initiatives. These resolutions may reflect both policies at NACD and/or federal legislative actions that require NACD support.

Please clearly describe the background for the MACD Legislative and Resolutions Committee and MACD Board discussion. This is generally where "whereas" statements could go as those are generally background. This information will be kept on file at MACD in our Resolutions Library. The sponsoring district should also keep a copy of the final resolution for their records.

ACTUAL RESOLUTION TO BE INCLUDED IN NACD POLICY BOOK IF ADOPTED

Please clearly and concisely, using active verbs, state the specific action(s) expected of NACD; This must be based on fact, avoiding opinions and beliefs; the statement should make sense even without the background. THIS IS GENERALLY WHERE A "THEREFORE" STATEMENT WOULD GO. Please note, this resolution format provided by MACD is very similar to the NACD Resolution format, and much of this information will be directly submitted to NACD. The sponsoring district will be consulted on any edits or reformatting required by NACD.
