The Baylor Landrum Jr. Leave a Legacy Award publicly recognizes the importance of planned gifts. The award is presented to either a charitable donor or a professional advisor exhibiting the impact planned gifts have to better our community in Louisville and Southern Indiana. The nominee also encourages others to make planned gifts to their favorite charities. In 2011, the Leave A Legacy Award was named in memory of Baylor Landrum Jr. in recognition of his wide impact on nonprofits in our community through many generous planned gifts.

Charitable Donor – A current charitable donor who has made a difference in an organization in the Greater Louisville / Southern Indiana region through a significant planned gift, such as a bequest or charitable gift annuity. While there is no minimum to classify what constitutes a significant gift, the gift should be significant to a specific organization. It is not required that the organization know the specific gift amount.

Professional Advisor – A current professional advisor who has made a difference in an organization in the Greater Louisville / Southern Indiana region by promoting charitable gifts through planned giving vehicles.

Nominators are encouraged to submit nominees to either or both categories, but only one award will be given each year.

Eligibility and Expectations
- Previous Baylor Landrum Jr. Leave a Legacy Award winners are not eligible for this nomination.
- The nominee must be living at the time of nomination.
- Nominee may not be an employee of a nonprofit organization.
- Nominators may be any one or any organization that is aware of the nominee’s qualifications.
- The recipient is expected to be present to accept the award.
- Organizations may submit a maximum of three award nominations for National Philanthropy Day. For these purposes "organizaton" is defined by EIN number. Any nominations submitted after the limit of three will be disqualified. AFP and the National Philanthropy Day will disqualify applications based on date and time the nomination was submitted.

Nomination Tips
- Nominations are sent to other AFP Chapters for blind judging so be sure to keep that in mind when explaining your nominee's impact
- All nominations are scored using a judging matrix. Please see below:

Rate nominee according to level of accomplishment (1 - 5). 
1 - Fails to meet expectations
2 - Somewhat meets expectations
3 - Meets expectations
4 - Exceeds expectations
5 - Exceeds expectations exceptionally

 

All nominees will be announced but winners will not be disclosed until National Philanthropy Day. The National Philanthropy Day nominations committee reserves the right to decline to choose a winner.
