  • Anchor Catechist & Volunteer Opportunities

  • Catechists We need at least three Catechists per classroom/grade level to run the Anchor Program.  These Catechists work in teams to spread out the lesson planning and give our students a dynamic experience. Having Catechist teams allows there to still be two adults in every classroom, even if a Catechist must miss a class for any reason.  Anchor registration fees are waved for the Catechist's children.
  • Are you or a family member currently signed up as a catechist for the 2026-2027 year?
  • Are you interested in volunteering to be a catechist for the 2026-2027 Anchor year?
  • Are you interested in volunteering to be a SUBSTITUTE catechist for the 2026-2027 Anchor year?
  • Family Commitment to Anchor and Fees

  • Anchor Parent/Guardian Responsibilities In addition to being the primary educators in the faith, parents by their enrollment into the Anchor agree to support the process in the following ways:

Domestic Church: It is important to recognize that the Anchor catechists assist the domestic church (your household) in training the children in the faith; they cannot replace you, nor is the Anchor sufficient to fully pass on the faith to the children.  Please walk with your child every step of the way and be sure to share the beauty of the faith with them on a daily basis.

Safe Environment Certified: If not already safe environment certified, parents agree to ensure that one adult in the family will become safe environment certified by the Archdiocese of Denver within 6 months of enrollment. This will allow families to participate in the volunteer opportunities.  You can find Safe Environment classes here: https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_list2.cfm?theOrgID=36848&theme=0

Hall Monitors: Contribute to the safety of the program by serving as a Hall Monitor on a rotating basis.  Volunteers must be safe environment certified.  Duties include: Patrolling the hallways, offering an official presence, and accompanying any stranger to the front desk where they can be further assisted by staff.  Assist the catechist by ensuring children released from class to use the restroom do so and return to class in a timely manner.  Only one child in the bathroom at a time. In the event that your child’s class is short a catechist, you may be asked to forgo the parent presentation and sit as an observer in the class your child is taking.

Attendance Policy: For children: 1st and 2nd absence is ignored. 3rd absence results in the possibility of the parish or volunteer staff contacting the family.  Please consider this a wellness check.  If there is something the parish can do to help, we would like to. 4th absence results in the possibility of the Director of Faith Formation, in consultation with the family, determining if the Anchor alone is the best fit for the child, or if supplemental or alternative means should be employed.

Attendance for children in Sacramental Preparation, absences greater than 4 missed classes may result in a delay of receiving sacraments.  In addition, all meetings and retreats are mandatory.

Parent Attendance: A parent or guardian MUST attend the parent session every time the child is in a children’s session.  This is not a drop off catechesis program.  Furthermore, since building community is an important aspect of the Anchor, it is best if the same person or persons can be present for the sessions.

  • Have you read and agree to the Family Commitment to the Anchor Program?*
  • How many years has your family attended the Anchor Program at Spirit of Christ?
  • What is your primary reason for registering for the Anchor Program this year? Check all that apply.

  • Anchor Fees Your Anchor fees help to cover a small portion of the costs to run the Anchor Program.  We are thankful for and depend upon the prayers and generosity from the offertory on Sunday's at Spirit of Christ.

Anchor fees for 2026-2027 will be as follows. The total number of children includes children in classes, not in the nursery.  When you complete your registration, you will be taken to the SOC Payment website to complete your payment calculated below.

(Anchor fees are waived for families with Catechists, but you any donation you make is appreciated to help cover costs of materials.)

  • Youth Ministry Catechist & Mentor Opportunities

We need several adult mentors and catechists to serve in the Youth Ministry programs.  These Catechists work in teams to spread out the lesson planning and give our students a dynamic experience. Parents are always welcome, and we especially invite young adults, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and those without children in the program to consider serving.  No experience needed—just a love for Christ and a willingness to help.

If you or someone you know is interested in serving and sharing their faith in this way, please let us know!

  • Youth Ministry Expectations and Fees

  • Youth Ministry Parent/Guardian Responsibilities In addition to being the primary educators in the faith, parents by their registration in the Youth Ministry programs at Spirit of Chrsit agree to support the process in the following ways:

Domestic Church: It is important to recognize that the Rise Middle School Ministry and Ignite High School Ministry mentors and catechists assist the domestic church (your household) in training the children in the faith; they cannot replace you, nor is the Youth Ministry Program sufficient to fully pass on the faith to the children.  Please walk with your child every step of the way and be sure to share the beauty of the faith with them on a daily basis.

    FEES

The Youth Ministry Programs at Spirit of Christ are free. Please ensure your regular offering reflects your support and gratitude for the parish programs that serve and form our young people in faith.  There are fees for special events, retreats and activites that your student chooses to participate in.

The sacramental preparation program has a $50 fee.  This includes a Bible, Catechism, and supplies.
