The Legacy Leadership Institute on Public Policy, based in the University of Maryland School of Public Health, is designed to provide residents aged 50+ with new careers as Legacy Service Leaders during retirement. These leaders will receive training and will work with elected officials to help address the challenges facing the state of Maryland.
Legacy Leader interns are volunteers, but many past interns have gone on to be hired by the legislator for whom they intern.
- Class will start September 9, 2026, and will end on December 3, 2026 (classes held each Tues. & Weds at 8930 Stanford Blvd, 2nd fl, Columbia, MD 21045).
- The Maryland General Assembly volunteer segment starts January 13, 2027 and ends on April 12, 2027. Legacy Leaders volunteer 2 days a week during the legislative session.
