United Way of Hunterdon County's Start School Strong Program helps children begin the school year prepared for success by providing backpacks, school supplies, and connections to valuable community resources.

Complete the Start School Strong registration form and select the location where you would like to participate.

If you select the Flemington location, you will be contacted after registration to schedule an appointment on either August 24 or August 31. Appointments help ensure a smooth distribution of school supplies and services while allowing families to fully enjoy the Start School Strong event.
2. Upload Required Documents
Please upload the following documents with your online application:
- Photo ID for head(s) of household
- Proof of residency
3. Registration Deadline
📅 All applications must be submitted by August 8, 2026.
4. After You Apply
Once your registration has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your application and the location you selected.
Families who select the Flemington location will be contacted separately to schedule an appointment for either August 24 or August 31.
Please note that submitting a registration does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Families may be contacted if additional information is needed.
5. What to Expect at Start School Strong
During the event, eligible families will have access to a variety of resources and services designed to help children start the school year ready to learn.
Available services may include:
- Backpacks and grade-appropriate school supplies
- Assistance completing Free and Reduced-Price School Meal Applications
- Health and biometric screenings
- Information and enrollment assistance for NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid) and other benefit programs
- Community resource information and referrals
- Educational activities and fun experiences for children
- Services and activities may vary by location.
