Description: Effective support for young children, particularly those with complex or diverse needs, depends on how well the adults around them work together. This session provides practical strategies for building and sustaining high-functioning teams across families, early childhood settings, and related services.
Participants will explore how to identify key stakeholders, assess gaps in representation, and consider who may be missing from a child’s support network. Emphasis will be placed on clarifying roles, strengthening communication, and navigating differing perspectives in ways that keep the child at the center.
Grounded in research on group dynamics and leadership, and aligned with principles of universal design for learning, this session highlights how inclusive, well-coordinated teams lead to stronger outcomes for children. Participants will engage in reflection and application activities designed to strengthen collaboration within their own contexts.
Because we are all part of teams, whether in professional settings, family systems, or community networks, this session is relevant for anyone involved in the care, education, or advocacy of young children. Strong teams are foundational to creating consistent, responsive, and effective support for every child.
