Post-Doctoral Fellowship Application
  • Post-Doctoral Fellowship Application

Thank you for your interest in joining our team!
  • Framework is a thriving group practice based in Los Angeles. We were founded on the principles of providing affordable, accessible psychological services from highly qualified therapists. Current marketing strategies attract high functioning clients in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who are experiencing phase of life issues, relationship concerns, or striving to achieve work/life balance.

Our fellowship is designed to help strengthen your outpatient clinical skills, developmentally foster your autonomy, and grow your identity as a private practice therapist.

We recommend allotting about 20 minutes to complete this application. It is designed to give you an overview of the fellowship while helping you assess whether the opportunity is a strong fit for your background and goals.

  • OVERVIEW:

    DUTIES
  • Our goal is to help fellows obtain their required hours efficiently so they can achieve psychologist licensure as soon as possible.

You will be asked to schedule approximately 25 clinical sessions per week. You will conduct intakes and provide individual and couples therapy to adult clientele. Framework does not treat minors.

All clients referrals will be provided and you can anticipate a full caseload within 1 month of starting. Fellows who maintain adequate client retention will gain their required training hours quickly. Each year, the fellowship provides approximately:

    • 1,750 supervised hours
    • 1,000 direct clinical hours

You will also be asked to present a Continuing Education presentation on a topic of your choosing each year.

Finally, our post-doctoral fellows co-supervise a practicum student alongside a licensed psychologist and participate in periodic "supervision of supervision" consultation meetings. This allows our post-doctoral fellows to further develop their own skills as a supervisor.

  • OVERVIEW:

    COMMITMENT
  • This is a full-time training program designed to prepare you for licensure as a psychologist in California. All fellows must be available for full-time employment. We do not hire part-time fellows.

Fellows are allowed to create their own schedule but must work Monday-Friday. Fellows may not see clients any earlier than 7:30AM, later than 7:00PM, or on the weekend.

All fellows are asked to commit to a minimum of 1 year of full-time training.

  • OVERVIEW:

    SUPERVISION
  • At our practice, supervision is not treated as simply a "box to check" on the way to licensure. We believe meaningful, high-quality supervision is foundational to cultivating talented, competent, and confident therapists. For this reason, we seek fellows who are passionate about the field and eager to develop their clinical skills, professional identity, and interpersonal awareness.

We honor the wealth of experience you bring to your fellowship and ground our supervision in a supportive, strengths-based, relational approach. We enjoy developing relationships with our fellows and setting them up for long-term success in private practice.

Fellows are required to attend 4 hours of supervision weekly:

    1. Individual Supervision (Includes periodic live observation of clinical sessions.)
    2. Group/Peer Consultation
    3. Couples Therapy Consultation
    4. Didactic Presentation (Topics change monthly. Experts present on clinical themes related to interventions, therapeutic modalities, and special populations.)

Additionally, fellows are invited to participate in our "Design Your Dream Practice" workshop each summer. You'll develop concrete strategies to launch, market, and grow your own dream practice.

  • OVERVIEW:

    COMPENSATION
  • Our fellowship is a W2 position. Fellows are paid hourly for their clinical sessions (including late cancellations), administrative time, and attendance in supervision. Fellows are paid for all sessions conducted, regardless if the client or insurance pays.

Fellows can anticipate earning $42,000-$45,000 per year. The exact amount you earn in a year will depend on your ability to develop rapport and retain clients, a critical skill to learn for success in private practice.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

    • Paid time off
    • Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance
    • 401(K) Matching

A 22-year-old nonbinary, Latinx college senior named Jordan arrives 10 minutes late for their intake appointment. Jordan apologizes several times and explains that they have been struggling to sleep and have missed multiple morning classes over the past month. Jordan reports feeling “constantly anxious” about graduating and finding a job and says they have recently stopped attending social events because they feel “exhausted and overwhelmed.”

Jordan speaks softly and avoids eye contact but is cooperative and engaged. They report sleeping about 4–5 hours per night, difficulty concentrating, and a decreased appetite. They deny suicidal ideation or self-harm. Jordan shares that they previously enjoyed exercising and spending time with friends but have lost motivation for either activity in recent weeks.

When you inquire about Jordan’s family, they say, “That’s a bit complicated right now.” They elaborate that they were recently “outed” as nonbinary to their family by a trusted family friend. Jordan says that their two siblings have both been supportive since learning about the shift in how Jordan views their gender identity. However, they report feeling “awkward” with their parents since being outed. During a recent visit to campus, their father did not acknowledge their gender identity and seemed “distant,” which Jordan says is uncharacteristic of him. Their mother reportedly said, “I don’t really understand why my daughter feels the need to be so public about something silly like pronouns” and “It’s just a phase you’ll probably outgrow.”

Jordan states that they want help “getting back on track” before graduation. They also express interest in learning coping strategies for stress and anxiety.
