  • Dismissal Authorization

Certain families may wish for their student to be dismissed at the end of the school day without an adult physically present for pickup. By opting in, you authorize BSCS to release the student at dismissal time to walk, bike, drive, or otherwise travel independently.
  • How may your student leave at dismissal?*
  • Parent acknowledges and agrees that:

Release of Custody: Once the Student is released from School grounds at dismissal, BSCS is no longer responsible for the Student’s supervision, safety, custody, or whereabouts.

Assumption of Risk: Independent travel involves inherent risks, including traffic hazards, weather conditions, interactions with the public, and other circumstances outside the School’s control.

Parent voluntarily assumes all risks associated with the Student’s independent travel.

Revocation Rights: The School may revoke independent dismissal privileges if safety, conduct, or community concerns arise.

Parent Responsibility: It is the Parent’s responsibility to ensure the Student is prepared to travel independently and is capable of doing so safely.

  • Authorized Pickups

For your child’s safety, please tell us who is allowed to pick them up from school. Parents/guardians are automatically authorized, but please list anyone else you wish to include. Anyone not listed will not be permitted to take your child without direct parent notification.

  • Immunizations

BSCS requires all students to have current immunization records on file in compliance with Montana state and local health regulations. Montana law requires students to be immunized against certain diseases before attending school, unless exempt by medical or religious affidavit. *Aeon also requires immunization records on file in order to register your student for classes.*

  • Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medication

  • To support student wellness, BSCS may provide limited over-the-counter (OTC) medication when appropriate. Medications are given only when needed and in age-appropriate, manufacturer-recommended doses. I give permission for BSCS staff to administer the following OTC medications to my child as needed:*
  • Other than emergency medications covered by an action plan (inhalers, epinephrine, etc.), does your student take any prescription medication during the school day?*
  • Please submit a Medication Authorization Form for each medication.

  • Lunch Program

  • Any non-medical dietary preferences or restrictions we should know about?*
  • Will your student typically participate in lunch? They're always welcome to join, this will just help as we plan for cost.*
  • Athletics

  • Will your Middle or High School student participate in sports at Big Sky School District?*
  • Is your student a BSSEF Athlete?*
  • Will they need transportation to the resort for training? You will be able to adjust this each week, we are just looking to set a default for what each student will do MOST of the time.
  • Athlete Wearable Technology (optional)

  • This year we're excited to offer WHOOP bands to our 6-12th student-athletes who want to dig deeper into their sleep, recovery, and training load. Athletes who participate will review their data with our Director of Sport Performance to build smarter training, recovery, and sleep habits around their training and competition schedules.

A few things to know before opting in:

    • Participation is completely optional and doesn't affect your athlete's access to any other programming.
    • The WHOOP band is owned and provided by the school and will be returned at the end of the year (or if your athlete stops participating). Families are responsible for reimbursing the school for a lost band (replacement cost is $179).
    • Your athlete's WHOOP data (sleep, recovery, and strain metrics) will be visible to the school's sport performance staff so we can coach from it.
    • We will share your student's login information so you can help support healthy lifestyles at home.

We love sharing what our students are up to on the website, social media, and for upcoming fundraising. Every family signs a media release at enrollment, so this is just a heads-up preference for our team when we're choosing photos.
