  • About the Course

  • IDOE Early Literacy Endorsement PD is available to current eligible Indiana educators who hold a valid professional educator license and teach in a content area that involves literacy instruction for PK-5 students. Eligible licensed Indiana educators may participate at no cost in Keys to Beginning Reading & Writing professional development totaling up to 80 hours.

    This application is for eligible educators who plan to complete the 25 hours of professional development through the comprehensive Keys to Literacy course, specifically designed for Indiana. Enrollees who fill out this form will participate in training that includes: 

     

    Component II 

    25-Hour HQCM Component 

    • 3-Hour Live Session via AND
    • 22-Hour Course and Capstone Implementation Project: Recorded Classroom Lesson Segment
      • 5 hours Word Recognition
      • 5 hours Language Comprehension

    Keys to Literacy will process registrations on an ongoing basis beginning on July 1, 2026, and space is limited.   • 25-Hour HQCM Live, Course, and Implementation Project

    HQCM Live Session (3 Hours): Connect foundational knowledge to classroom implementation through HQCM during one live virtual session via Zoom meeting. HQCM Independent Course and Implementation Project (22 Hours): Learn HQCM evaluation, professional learning protocols, and evidence-based literacy implementation through adopted materials. Apply course learning to classroom practice via a structured implementation cycle.

    Each participant will attend one 3-hour live virtual via Zoom meeting session. Please choose your top 3 choices for your 3-hour live session. Please do not choose the same option for all three options. All times are in Eastern Standard Time.
