Indiana Science of Reading Course Application with Keys to Literacy

About the Course
IDOE Early Literacy Endorsement PD is available to current eligible Indiana educators who hold a valid professional educator license and teach in a content area that involves literacy instruction for PK-5 students. Eligible licensed Indiana educators may participate at no cost in Keys to Beginning Reading & Writing professional development totaling up to 80 hours.

This application is for eligible educators who plan to complete 55 hours of professional development through the comprehensive Keys to Literacy course, specifically designed for Indiana. Enrollees will participate in training that includes:

Component I

Asynchronous Online Courses:
- 40-Hour Keys to Beginning Reading
  - 20 Hours Word Recognition
  - 20 Hours Language Comprehension
    AND
- 15-Hour Writing Course
  - Keys to Early Writing Grades PK-2 OR
  - Keys to Content Writing Grades 3-5
    
    10 Hours Language Comprehension
Registration Process:

Keys to Literacy will process registrations on an ongoing basis beginning on July 1, 2026, and space is limited. Enrollees can expect electronic confirmation as follows: For online asynchronous course access, you will receive an email from K12 Connect (please check your SPAM folder). Participants will be enrolled in one of two 15-hour online courses and will receive the corresponding training manual. Please indicate your course preference below for either Keys to Early Writing (PreK-Grade 2) OR Keys to Content Writing (Grades 3 and up).
