    Please use this form to sign up to volunteer at the Troy Traffic Jam on Sunday August 2, 2026! This event takes place at the Columbia Center on Big Beaver Road in Troy, MI.

  • All volunteers must attend orientation on Tuesday July 28 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. 

    Orientation takes place at the Columbia Center (201 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy, MI) inside a conference room. 

    At orientation you will receive an overview of the event, informational materials, your day-of parking pass, and an event t-shirt!

    Position Description

    50/50 Raffle Ticket Sales

    (9:30am - 12pm or 12pm - 2:30pm)

    Help sell 50/50 raffle tickets! We are back to TWO drawings! One at 12pm and one at 2pm! We need at least 6 people each shift to help sell tickets to raise as much money for the pot as possible! This position is mostly standing and walking on cement, but can accomodate mobility devices if needed! Grab a friend and make a day of it! 

    Ballot Counters

    (10:30am - 1:30pm

    Quickly and correctly tabulate the votes for car awards. This position is inside and mostly seated.

    Car Check-In and Registration

    (Only two shifts - 6:30am - 8:30am OR 8:30am - 10:30am)

    Check in the pre-registered cars, register new cars, hand out goodie bags. This position is mostly standing. Registration has a firm arrival time of 7am and a firm cut off at 10am. Early shift will help set up and late shift will help clean up! 

    Car Parking 

    (Multiple shifts between 6am - 10:30am)

    Direct participant show cars their parking spots - you will not drive any cars yourself, you just flag them in the right direction and space. This position is mostly standing and walking. Working with a team, and each team will have a parking lot lead). Parking closes at 10am. 

    Event Set Up

    (Multiple shifts between 6am - 9am)

    Help set up signs, tables, and equipment for the day. This position is mostly standing and requires some light lifting / carrying. 

    Event Take Down

    (3pm - 4pm; usually as an add-on to another shift)

    Help load items into cars and trucks to return to the Village. Drive back to the Village and help unload items and put them away. This position is mostly standing and some light lifting / carrying.

    There is also opportunity to meet THV staff at the Village to help unload the cars and put stuff away. 

    Parking Lot Monitor

    (Multiple shifts between 11am - 3pm)

    After all the cars are parked and registration is closed, we need folks to hang out in the parking lots and make sure cars don't try to leave early. This position can be mostly seated with some walking periodically to make sure no tents are being raised, and to help keep an eye on the car show. 

    Parking Donations


    (Only two shifts: 8:30am - 11am / 11am - 1:30pm) 

    *New for 2026* Since TTJ is a fundraiser, we are going to request guests make a suggested donation of $5 per car to park before entering this amazing free show! We need adults to lead the charge on soliciting the donation and making change. This position will also have a few high school students to help as extra hands and runners. This position is mostly standing and walking, but seating can be accomodated. We will also have lots of signs to help encourage guests to have their money ready before they reach you!

    THV/TTJ Info & Pedal Car Info Table

    (Multiple shifts between 8:30am - 3:30pm

    Share information about Troy Historic Village programs and how to sign up for Pedal Car Races. We will have both information at one table this year! No experience necessary, we will give you all the info you need and will have lots of cheat sheets for info (plus a staff member near by at all times). This position is mostly seated under a tent. Early shift may need to help set up and late shift may need to help clean up. No heavy lifting involved unless you want! 

    Volunteer Check In

    (Two shifts: 6am - 8:30am / 8:30am - 11am)

    Help check in volunteers by making sure they have the materials they need, direct them to the correct location, answer questions they may have. No experience is necessary, Barbara will train you! This position is mostly seated under a tent. There will be information about what to give volunteers as they arrive, and what we need from them as they leave. 

    Merchandise Table

    (Multiple shifts between 7am - 3pm)

    There are two parts to the merchandise table: 1) items that car show participants have pre-ordered, 2) items for anyone to purchase. Volunteers working the merchandise table will share duties with another volunteer. This position requires cash handling, some standing, and some moving objects around. We will have a staff member near by at all times. 

    Troy Traffic Jam Raffle

    (Multiple shifts between 8:30am - 3:30pm)

    Troy Traffic Jam raffle is very similar to our Summer Raffle. We sell tickets for guests to test their luck on winning a basket! Volunteers at this positon will monitor the prizes, exchange tickets for cash, and instruct ticket holders how to fill out the correct information and participate in the raffle. This position will be at a table under a tent and can be done seated or standing.

     Stand around the perimeter of the car show to direct traffic in the right directions, answer questions from guests. This position is mostly standing.

    Position Description

    Ambassador

    (Multiple shifts between 7am - 3pm)

    Stand around the perimeter of the car show to direct traffic in the right directions, answer questions from guests. This position is mostly standing. 

    Car Check-In and Registration Assistant

    (Only two shifts - 6:30am - 8:30am OR 8:30am - 10:30am)

    Assist the Registration Captain in providing supplies for car show participants to check in. This position is mostly standing and walking.

    Car Parking Assistant

    (Multiple shifts between 6am - 10:30am)

    Assist the Parking Captain in directing participant cars to their parking spots and help communicate messages between other captains - you will not drive any cars yourself. This position is mostly standing and walking.

    Parking Donations Assistant

    (Only two shifts: 8:30am - 11am / 11am - 1:30pm)

    Assist adults direct cars to the parking structure and collection suggested donations from cars as they park. Students might also help keep count of numbers of guests in each car or help collect change. This position is mostly standing and walking, but chairs can be accomodated in between cars.

    (Multiple Shifts between 8:30am - 4pm)

    Assist THV staff in greeting guests and demonstrating activities for kids. Volunteer should enjoy engaging with young children! This position is done seated or standing. Might need to help set up or clean up area.

    Parking Lot Monitor

    (Multiple shifts between 11am - 3pm)
