• 2026 Application for Board of Directors Board Advisor

Deadline to Apply: August 31, 2026
  • At the 2026 state convention, there will be elections to the People First of Washington Board of Directors.

Nominations from the floor are no longer permitted by vote of the Board of Directors.

All applicants for the board of directors must pass a state-required background check before appearing on the ballot. Instructions for submitting a background check are located at the end of this form and will be emailed to each person who completes this application.

There are two positions on this year's ballot:

    • Eastern Side Board Advisor
    • Western Side Board Advisor
Thank you for your interest in running for the position of Board Advisor!  Board Advisors are an integral part of the Board of Directors.  Advisors do not vote, but they are so important!  Advisors, as the title implies, advise the board when ASKED, and offer insight, making sure different ideas are considered. This is a supportive role.  Time commitments will vary, especially during the legislative session or as we are preparing for convention, but a general time commitment per month might be anywhere from 3-10 hours a month.

    A Board Advisor will:

Assist with building the meeting agenda with board officers

Attend board meetings, which are typically once a month on the fourth Monday from 6-8 pm.  (This time/day can be adjusted if needed)

Attend an Officer’s Meeting, typically the Monday before the board meeting, to build the agenda

One Advisor will work with the Secretary during the month to prepare the previous meeting minutes to be shared at the next board meeting.

Each Advisor will work with the board to determine which committees they will advise.  These committees may meet a few times a year, or once a month, depending on the need.

For any questions regarding this role, please reach out to Nominations Chair, Lizzy Johnston, (253) 331-9609 or email: lizzy.johnston1987@gmail.com
