• BUSINESS LEGAL CONFIDENCE ASSESSMENT

How confident are you that your business is ready for what's next?
  • As business owners, we're constantly making decisions.

    • Hiring a team.
    • Serving clients.
    • Launching new services.
    • Building a brand.
    • Planning for growth.
    • Thinking about succession and legacy.

    The challenge isn't making decisions.

It's knowing whether you've put the right protections in place as your business evolves.

This assessment is designed to help you evaluate five key areas of your business and gain greater clarity about where you're strong, where opportunities exist, and what steps may help you better protect, grow, and eventually harvest the value you've built.

For each question, rate your confidence from 1–5:

1 = Not at all confident
    5 = Very confident

You don't need to be a lawyer to complete this assessment. Simply answer honestly based on what you know today.

    The goal isn't perfection.

    The goal is clarity.

    Let's get started.

  • A strong business starts with a strong foundation. As your business grows, it's important to ensure your ownership structure, governance documents, and decision-making processes continue to support your goals and protect what you've built.

  • Are confident your current business entity (LLC, corporation, sole proprietorship, etc.) and tax status (pass through, partnership, corporation, s-corp, etc.) still support your business goals, ownership, and tax strategy?*
  • Do you have an operating agreement or articles/bylaws in place-and are they up to date?*
  • If you have business partners or co-owners, are expectations, roles, and decision-making authority clearly documented?*
  • Do you have a process for documenting ownership, leadership, or business decisions?*

  • Do you use a consistent contract for all your customers or clients?*
  • Are your payment terms, deliverables, and refund policies clearly spelled out in writing?*
  • Are your customer agreements aligned with how you currently deliver your products or services?*
  • Brand & Intellectual Property

  • Your brand is one of your most valuable business assets. From your business name to your content and creative work, protecting what makes your business unique helps preserve the value you've created.

  • Are you confident your business name, brand, and key intellectual property assets are appropriately protected?*
  • Do you clearly own all content created for your brand whether by an employee or contractor (e.g., photos, copy, designs, website, etc.)?*
  • Are your IP rights covered in contracts with contractors or collaborators?*
  • Marketing & Online Activities

  • Your online presence is often the first interaction people have with your business. This section helps you evaluate whether your marketing, website, and digital activities are aligned with current legal and business expectations.

  • Does your website have a Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions posted?*
  • Are you complying with email marketing laws (like CAN-SPAM or GDPR)?*
  • Are your marketing content, website content, and digital assets clearly owned by your business?*

  • Business Continuity & Protection

  • The strongest businesses are prepared for both opportunities and unexpected events. This section helps you evaluate whether your business can continue operating smoothly if circumstances change and whether you've documented a plan for the future.

  • If you stepped away for 30 days, would your business run smoothly without you?*
  • Do you have a succession or emergency plan documented where someone can find it?*
  • Is your business covered in your personal estate plan or trust?*
